McLeish has released a comment about Hart, and that he'd be 'devastated' to come back here and sit on the bench.

Is anyone else getting a little annoyed by Hart and his "I MUST PLAY" attitude? I'm from the school of thought that says that if you are so desperate to play, then work harder in training, but Hart seems to give off the impression that he doesn't care at which club he is, as long as he is playing first team.

We have a legitimately good goalkeeper in Given, who could help Hart to progress if he worked with him for a while. He could play the games against the 'easier' teams, and the Carling/FA Cup matches, etc to give himself a bit of form to compare to Given. If that means that you have to miss 30 games a season to play 20 then so be it.

Do you see Foster (another person in the England frame) complaining about being benched at the rags?

Why is sitting on our bench is such a disgrace?

I don't know, maybe I'm reading him wrong, but over the past few months I've read a few comments that suggest that he is unwilling to come back and fight for a place. It's a bit disheartening really. Maybe another year on loan to Brum (which to be fair has been excellent for everyone as he has become a better player whilst there) would be the solution, or at least a temporary one until Mancini can decide what he wishes to do with him.

In defence of Hart the only things I have read are direct quotes from McCleish or comments attributed to the Brum Chief Exec'

As they have said so much about wanting Hart next season and yet admittedly not even made an offer for his services they can quite comfortably fuck right off.

Could you imagine the mess that Moyes would be making if we behaved like that about his keeper?

I think he just wants to play, he's good enough to be playing premiership football and it would probably be a bitter pill to swallow having to sit on the bench a lot of the time.

I agree though I'd have him back competing with Shay and he'd get upwards of 15 games assuming we don't go out of the cups early. I'd rather have him working with the City defence than the Brum one as it's vitally important that the keeper and the back 4 have an understanding.

No, in my eyes he is better than Given and i too would be devasted if i was him and not playing first team football when he is better than 95% of the keepers in the premier league.

I'd rather have a keeper who wanted to play at all times than those who are happy to sit on a bench for 99% of the season picking up their wages like Ben Foster does.

How many keepers in the league can you say "if it wasn't for him they would be in a far worse posistion"? Only two, Hart and Reina.

Its a Hard call.
Regular First team football gets you in the England set up and keeps you at the top of your game.
I would love to keep him and Given. But sadly i think one has to go.

How ever a BIG BIG Thank you to Joe for todays performance and holding the Dippers to a draw

Gordon's kept Sunderland in quite a few games this season.
As daft as it sounds, Burnley would be much worse without the Beast in net.
Definitely, definitely Shay has saved us probably about 10-15 points this year.
United went on a really bad run (IIRC) once VDS went out.

I see your point, I just disagree with it. Right now, Given would still be my number one. Even if Hart came back tomorrow, would he have the experience to handle the pressure of a top four run-in? I admit that I'm pretty prejudice against young keepers, when they are on a par with elder ones.

This ^^^^ I think Hart is on a par with Given and would like to see him back here playing regular first team football.

Hart is young and the future, Given is good but probably at his best right now... we really must plan ahead

I've not seen him actualy play this season, but I can remember how relieved everyone on here was when we signed Given, and how many doubts there were about Hart at the top level. Has he actually improved a lot or is he just shining in a team with lower expectations? I would love it all to work out and see him here again BTW.

Gordon you may have a point but only recently has he even looked like a keeper worth half of the £9m the mackems paid for him and it was as daft as it sounded, The Beast has cost Burnley lots of points this season, if they had a half decent keeper instead of the reincarnation of fatty foulkes in net they may just be in a better position.

And as much as Shay has saved us 10-15 points this season he has probably cost us close to that and a place at Wembley without making the mistakes as obvious as David James for example (think Fletchers two 6 yard headers in the league and Rooney's 6 yard header in the cup as examples of costing us goals when he should of come out and collected them)

Even though i think Hart is better than Given i still would have Given as our number one next season purely for the experience but i would still want Hart to go on loan, i wouldn't want our future number one missing a year of his development by sitting on his arse with us next season, it could cost us in the long run.

Hart's distribution is far better than Given's but they are both sit on the line merchants, prefer somebody coming out and commanding the box, I feel Mancini is working on this with Given but it will never be there, GK and 2 fullbacks main priority in defence.
