It's not the most popular of positions (I hated being in goal, and being short didn't help), I guess because you have to spend 90 minutes in a box, throw yourself at the ground a lot and risk being booted in the head like Petr Cech was. No wonder goalies are insane. And goalkeeping has changed a lot now, you get more of them using their feet. They're also easy targets - I mean, de Gea has made some howlers, as has Pickford, but when you've got Slabhead, Tits McGee and Michael Keane in front of you, you can only do so much.

Yeah i guess keepers are becoming more fashionable. Kids playing on 4G etc and playing out from the back is a bit more appealing than stood in 6” of mud having a hard ball twatted at you like when i were a lad.
 
I have to admit I have changed my view on Joe. A tweet from a Rangers fan cleared up the glass on the pitch disgrace. It was Joe who was given the broken bottle by one of our coaches, he then hid it in his trackies, then dropped it at his goal. What a ****.

I wish I had made that up, but it’s true.

To be fair to Maicon (in this game only) Zabaleta also let fake Ron do the same thing (and he was the best defensive player in that position at the time).

Agreed without Joe we would have been out of thst game in the 1st half.
 
Loved Joe but in his last full season with us and after he left us his form dropped dramatically.
Good to see him have a good season at last but his decline was startling.

He definitely lost his way. And will probably never again reach the heights of his brilliance, but even a keeper half as good as he used to be is still a good keeper. He brings so much to us, including hairy moments, but you will not find a Celtic fan who doesn’t love the big bastard.
