We could all quote something ten years ago that could have sent us on a downward spiral. He has been using this excuse for going on ten years think he has sold his story a few times. Clearly a dickhead and hope he goes to Jail.
 
I'm in publishing and had heard about Barton's autobiography. Will read it cover to cover purely because I think it'll be a hoot. I can't wait to hear what he thought of Keegan, Pearce, Shearer and Warnock as managers.
 
I wouldn't normally stick up for Barton because I think he's a prick, but he's right about Tandy. Tandy is a scumbag who is just using Barton as a convenient excuse.
 
Not really sure how Barton isn't in prison or is still allowed to have media gigs, but Tandy is clearly grasping at straws looking for a defence. Throw them both in the sea and be done with it
 
Would love to see his book turned into a film. Would be so ridiculous it may even win an oscar.

I'd look for it on the Fiction shelves, I reckon it'll be mostly a retrospective look at incidents from his past polished up to try and make him look less of a twat.

Tandy's just another typical British scally fucking up his own life.
 
The Barrister used the Barton stuff without Jamie Tandy's knowledge he attempted to mitigate what Tandy had done. As he pleaded guilty it was all about the Barrister keeping him out of jail, which was a successful strategy BTW granted it doesn't make pleasant reading in the press especially after they put their own slant on things.
Not saying what Jamie Tandy did is in anyway excusable however the press is not the place to find out what exactly happened.
I find it slightly ironic that some people on here, slag off the press every time they write anything remotely negative about City, choose to believe them word for word when a story like this surfaces.
 
Barton is a bell end but to say no one would read his book is laughable. Just look at his twitter followers. His book would be a good read, try and get inside the mind of an idiot so to speak.

I know several people who know Tandy and each say what a tosser he is. the fact he keeps beating women up says it all. As previous people have pointed out its a mass clutching of straws to blame Barton. As Barton said Tandy set his shirt on fire first so his weird brain wasn't exactly functioning prior to Joeys cigar.

Have you bothered to read whp's post above? In any case, I don't see anything in the newspaper report that equates to Tandy blaming Barton for Tandy committing the offence, regardless of Barton interpreting it that way on his Twatter account. All I see is Tandy admitting the assault (perhaps Barton should take a leaf out of HIS book for taking responsibility for one's actions because virtually every time Barton has gotten into trouble, it tends to be someone else's fault), but stating (or rather the barrister stating) that the incident with Barton sparked a downward spiral in Tandy's life. It is entirely plausible that that was the trigger for that downward spiral - I doubt having a cigar stubbed out in his eye boosted his career prospects at City - and reference to 2 suicide attempts suggests that Tandy slumped into depression which is no laughing matter whatsoever.

None of that excuses him assaulting his girlfriend but the point is that there is no suggestion that he was using it as an excuse. Barton is a **** regardless and how he can take the moral high ground on something like this is fucking beyond me:

And that's just off the top of my head.

I don't know Tandy I know people who know him, people who told me what a gobshite he was before he set Bartons shirt on fire. As stated above if he doesn't set his shirt on fire he doesn't get a cigar in his eye (not saying he should of either way) but it's clear to do what he done to begin with shows his level of dick headedness before then blaming Joey for spiralling out of control.

Well in that case he should take it up with the press then.

I've met Tandy once - he was with a group of us throughout the day and evening of the FA Cup semi against the Rags at Wembley and he wasn't any trouble whatsoever. Doesn't make him a flawless character of course - the assault on his girlfriend reflects badly on him obviously - but this stuff with Barton happened when he was a lot younger and barely out of his teenage years and I know from my experience of many boozed up nights out that all manner of high jinks can get pulled. People interpret "trying to set Barton's shirt on fire" as though he poured paraffin on the scouse **** beforehand when in reality it was more than likely that it was a half-arsed bit of dicking around to which Barton totally overreacted to.

He's comedy gold on Twitter. I love autobiographies of people who've led a different path to others. Simon Day of The Fast Show fame is a personal favourite of mine. Homelessness, borstal, drug addiction etc. Fasincating read.
