We could do with some more of that mentality in our current squad.

After a bit of digging this morning I found out that Scunthorpe sold Ryan Loft to Bristol Rovers in January and would receive a 50k bonus if Rovers got promoted!
50k doesn’t sound a lot, but to Scunthorpe it’s probably a life saver in the National League.

Tbf Northampton were 3-0 up after 22mins and 3-1 at half time, they had more than an hour to score another goal against a side that just about scraped survival in the football league. Instead they apparently went to a back five to protect what they had because they thought they had done enough. Also had their keeper sent off when they finally went chasing. So they were as much the authors of their own downfall as anything Scunny did.
Would only be fair if the Cobblers still went up via the play offs, they have been much better than the rest, but as we know it doesn’t often work out that way

And another thought would be, Scunthorpe releasing their players early and playing a youth team knowing that they were playing Rovers in the last game of the season and it would look a little less dodgy if they suddenly sprung a youth team on the pitch to let Rovers win easily.

Not too sure we should apportion blame to a team that didn't throw a game tbh, for me, it absolutely stinks.

Watching the game yesterday Scunthorpe had no intention of trying to score passed back to their keeper from the half way line constantly, something definitely dodgy and should be looked into

I can think of another club where the ball regularly ends up with the keeper from possession on the halfway line. - They don't generally conceded seven though.

But I don't think Scunthorpe had any intention of playing out from the back or playing at all to be honest

These are the kind of results that make football so wonderful. It’s not just the joy and trauma of yesterday but the fact that Bristol Rovers and Northampton Town, who otherwise probably have nothing in common, will now have a bitter rivalry that will last for years to come. All rather petty and small-minded, but I suppose that’s football. Anyway, best of luck to Huddersfield in the playoffs…
