Did I mention I'd been on Eggheads?
Of all the records City have broken during the Pep era, there is one record City have held for just under 30 years - and probably won't ever be broken......
John Burridge is the oldest player to appear in the Premier League (and yes I know football wasn't invented in 1992) at the age of 43 years, 4 months and 26 days.

He recently played in a charity match at Hibs' Easter Road - Hibernian being one of his many clubs.
Fair play to Budgie who has obviously kept himself fit and still loves playing.

Classic quotation from him when interviewed as a Wolves player and asked about the team's strategy/tactical approach:

'Our plan? Oh, we use the 'W' formation.. if the ball comes into our area we welly it upfield..'

I recall his unpolitically correct term when he was due to make his City debut at White Hart Lane and the game was called off very late - think it was a water logged pitch.
Burridge stated that "today's game was a game played by puffs" or words to that effect that if said today would have the LGBTQ+ crew up in arms!

He was mainly on the bench for City walking around the perimeter throwing the ball for people in the crowd to head back.

I sat in the family stand above the tunnel used for vehicles getting into the ground.
He would throw the ball against the wall and dive onto the concrete floor to catch the rebound

29 clubs, wow, he has certainly' been around the block' old Budgie hasn't he!
Pretty sure I went to that riveting Newcastle 0:0 draw when he broke the record for being the oldest player in the Premier League.
Quite a character for sure. In one interview I seem to remember he said he used to take a football to bed with him at night!!?? Not sure exactly what the reason was, but 'each to their own!!

There's a clip of "Budgie" Burridge being interviewed on our official 1994/95 season review tape where he's emotional, I'm probably paraphrasing here but he was close to tears and euphoric simultaneously "it was amazing, the City fans were cheering me, the Newcastle fans where cheering me, it was like Forrest Gump, I wanted to cry!"

It was a hilarious description and touching at the same time can't find it anywhere online but the half a minute interview is a gem, I'm sure it'll surface someday not seen that old video in years, that season was at one point as a young blue my most entertained one that I could remember pre Kevin Keegan, we played great attacking football under Brian Horton even if we did take a few angin beatings.
