Regardless of player or club your heart goes out to anyone struck by this unforgiving illness. Lost my mum to brain cancer & watched her slowly drift away. I hope JH & his family have a different outcome & it's heart warming to see the expressions of support on here for him. Solidarity in football eh? I met Jason Cundy in Puerto Banus last year who also suffered from testicular cancer & beat it, he now visits clubs to spread the self exam message toyoung players...best wishes John...

Just read there that he had an operation on his brain and doctors also confirmed that the cancer is in his lungs :-( I hope you make the greatest of comebacks John.

Yeah I just heard the bit about it spreading to his lungs - pretty much no chance then! Very sad at only 34 - just shows it can happen to all of us at any age. Carpe diem!

The BBC website had to amend their story on BBJ (Big Bad John) today as it was making out he was as good as dead. He has had an operation on his brain but there is no other update on his condition, he's still critical. Can only wish him the very best but not sure if he will realistically pull through.
