Saw his latest film, 'The Angels' Share' on the way home from holiday on the plane. Shook his hand after his appearance today to congratulate him on it as it's piss funny and a great film. He said he was glad I enjoyed it.

Top guy.
In the film Henshaw plays a probation payback supervisor in Glasgow and (unlikely) takes his charges to Edinburgh for a whisky-tasting. It's the first time in Edinburgh for one of them, and he asks "What's that building up there?"
Surprised he doesn't know, his mates say, “That’s Edinburgh Castle”.
“Why did they put it up there?”
He lives in Greenfield near Mossley and drinks in the Rising Sun, a true blue season ticket holder and not a 'only see him when there's a cup final' celebrity.

ouch that must of hurt him when he had to wear a utd top in that film about eric cuntona! really nice bloke, heard he used to be a binman, don t know whether its true or not!

Funny thing is Gordon or the lad who played him was kicked out of my lad's school for being a bully....maybe not funny but ironic.

I know Bobby and I've always thought he was an alright lad.

My mate knew him too and said he was a wanker.

Re: John Henshall in City Square today.

Got a photo and had a chat with him yesterday, asked him if there was any chance of an early doors return he said unfortunately no but he would love it to happen.
Really top bloke who had time for everybody he spoke to.

Re: John Henshall in City Square today.

To be fair (tin hat firmly on!) I sat down not wanting to like "Being Eric" but came away thinking that it was actually a very good film.
The DVD I saw had an extra on Bath FC too. So there was a bit of City interest in that segement too (Book, Allison... ask yer dad, kids).

I thought Looking For Eric was fantastic. It had a happy ending but it never seemed cliched or patronising. John Henshaw was excellent and so was Steve Evets.

Re: John Henshall in City Square today.

My father in law was in looking for Eric, played the compare and lead singer in flashback scenes, said John Henshaw was a top bloke too!

He didn't actually wear a proper United shirt. Apparently, he refused and they provided a random red shirt for him. That might be a load of shit but it's what I heard (or read).
