Half of what he said/wrote was great and the the other half was a mix of the average and complete bollocks.

It was freezing when he died too. I made an igloo the day after.

He got shot same date as Dimebag, just realised.

Not really, this is a thread about a bloke whos contribution to popular culture can not be denied who was shot down at a, relatively, young age.

I only gob off when it's needed to be fair but really to be talking about Queen in the same breath as Lennon, The Beatles, Moz or Marr is insensitive to say the least.

And Freddie Mercury didn't contribute to popular culture? If you care to look earlier in the thread, I wasn't the first one to mention Queen/Mercury. I also didn't link Lennon to Morrissey/The Smiths. Tommy ducks replied to my"...Ssshhh you know who" with "Who on earth would they have mimicked without him?" And where did I show disrepect to Lennon, as you seem to be implying?

I wasnt having a go at you mate just saying this thread should be about Lennon and no one else.

All I'll say on Mercury is, in my opinion, he was a hideous man who made music that makes me feel physically sick to the stomach but this isnt about him it's about Lennon. To mention the 2 men in the same sentence seems stupid to me.
 
lennon, over rated, had done nothing for ages, his double fantasy effort was rubbish,
slated by nearly everyone at the time, but rose tinted glasses after his death,

Yes, and I'm not slagging you off. And I'm certainly not Slagging John Lennon off. Tell me where in this thread I have done so, please. You asked me to show some respect (to Lennon, presumably). I wasn't aware that I had shown any disrepect to him.You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, just as I'm entitled to mine. My first post on this thread was done in obvious jest, and no one seemed to have a problem with it except you. I apologise for offending you. I won't apologise for anything I have posted in this thread however, as I genuinely believe I haven't said anything offensive about any person. I am well known for a strong dislike for the Smiths/Morrissey. Others will, and have, strongly disagreed with me. Fair enough; I don't have a problem with that. At no point though, have I ever shown disrepect to either Morrissey or Marr by calling them a "hideous man". Just out of curiosity, what makes you call Mercury "hideous".

You didnt offend me mate. I didnt want this thread to go this way at all!

I just dislike Mercury hugely that's all and I didnt think he should be named in a Lennon thread. Just me and my opinions though mate nothing more!

Queen just annoy me a lot for whatever reason, I was going to say his moustache annoyed me too but then remembered Lennon had an equally stupid one at one point!
