Coming into a new team a new formation at a young age and having such a price tag Stones has been excellent up to his mistake today i am fucking baffled by some comments that have been made against him today..............

I've always argued in Stones' transfer thread that he is prone of the odd goal conceding error. However, regardless, his earlier performance made me believe the amount we paid for him is justified. Shame that it happened today but Kompany if fit and Stones if focused would be my most preferred pairing.

We were just too open with the back 3 and Southampton just punted the ball wide and feed of scraps like passes that are wide a few yards. It was an individual error and the best that can be done is to learn from it.

I have been looking back at the goal and why people seem to be blaming stones now if you look at it properly its actually Kompany at fault for moving forward to the saints forward rarther than moving back to receive the ball if passed back more to do with players still getting used to Peps way of thinking and how he wants them to play it will come im sure.

Stones should've been more aware of how close Redmond was to Kompany, that pass was never on. Should've gone back to Bravo.

Look at it again and you will see Kompany move towards Redmond instead of moving back for the option of being passed to!

Redmond is too close to him in the first place, can't play it across your goal with a striker that close.

Kompany did that quite a few times in the first half. His instinct is still to mark, not to make himself available for the pass.

IMO Stones should have passed forward. Id doubt that Pep wants endless passbacking. He wants us to pass around sure enough but not just for the sake of it. The players and especially Stones have to up the tempo and accuracy of the passing. Their latargic approach is killing us.

At times today in the second half the right tempo was there. Hopefully we see it more often and hopefully Stones will start to cop on and think about his passing.
