He was decent, I guess? Not really under pressure in the first half. A little shakey in the 2nd, didn't cost us but he could have. I still think it would be a mistake to trust him as anything more then 4th choice.

Needed to just get through this game without a major fuck up directly on his shoulders. He popped a few passes around and all round was fine. Good job John. Another 90 mins in the cup game to keep it going.

You couldn’t have gotten a more Stones performance than that tonight. In the 1st half with hardly any defending to do, he was every bit the £50m defender we bought, comfortable on the ball, got himself on the front foot and even looked strong and dominant. There was one warning sign late in that 1st half when Jimenez blazed a header over and Stones was stood a yard off him ball-watching.

Fast forward to the 2nd half and there was a 15 minute spell where he was all over the show and then for the goal it was an almost carbon-copy of the 1st half situation. Stones is looking directly at Jimenez and has to get tight and make a challenge.

He is fine in this side when we as a team a crushing others but he cannot defend and for a centre back that is a major problem.

Great?! Christ knows how you’d have described prime Vinnie.Stones as usual looked good whilst we were on top and then 2nd half was caught out twice and luckily it didn’t cost us 2 goals. 26 and never getting any better.

The hard on for Stones I will never understand. He looks miles below the level we require.

Looked good for most of the game but in key moments he was caught out 2/3 times. Those moments didn’t cost us today but they will in other games hence the need for another CB

Ball watching. Lacks defence maturity. If I was pep id get stones to watch archive footage of the great Baresi. Watch, practice, learn and repeat.

Didn't get within 3 yards of his man on about 3 or 4 occasions today in the box, luckily they only stuck one of them in.
