Lets see in the euros if he is "good on the ball". To me, he looks like he has been playing football since he was a young kid and therefore doesn't fall over it too much. Nothing special.

I'm only interested in this aspect because I hear it so much. I'm more concerned about his ability to defend...and on that score I have my doubts too.

Really fretting about this season tbh.... but then again I'm a nervous nelly in general.

I suspect he does a lot of things on the ball that other centre backs could do but experience and coaching has taught them not to. Playing more difficult passes and running the ball in to midfield is all well and good until you get it wrong.

Most defenders can't do what he does. They simply don't have the confidence, technique or practice.

That's the one thing about Stones that I like. He has the balls for it. He knows if he makes a mistake it will be costly but he's always trying to find a way to contribute to the attack. Much different than Mangala who just looks to offload the ball anywhere else as soon as he got the ball, as if he's afraid of making any mistake while having the ball.

Can't believe the negativity about Stones, looks & plays like a young Alan Hansen. Last season he was being coached by the fraud Martinez in a crap team I'm not surprised he looked poor at times.

It's no different than Raheem last year, the media say he's shit so everyone listens.
Anyone with half a brain can see John Stones is a superstar in the making and let's face it there is no better coach to help him reach the top, same with Sterling and Kelechi etc.

You don't improve defensively with Martinez in charge. I'll think he'll be great.
