One of which was Demichelis. You can't call on players to step in for injured players if they haven;t been playing.

Squad has to be workable in terms of numbers.

Our entire U16 team will just walk away if we sign player after player. There has to be progression. Khaldoon seems to agree

I think you need to have a read of Pep Confidential Marvin to have a bit of an insight into Peps preferred formations , he has often played with 3 at the back with Lahm (A career RB) playthe Pivote roll in front of the back 3-he absolutely will play with 3 CB's on occasions at City-i just dont see the problem in having 4 quality CB's at the club when we have had 4 for season after season.

And what have the under 16's got to do with anything? The under 16's are 2-3 seasons from breaking through.

Forced on him. It makes sense in closing weeks of the season when you are playing CL games and then League games. But generally even MP I think would play the same centre-back pairing the majority of games. You have to have cover for injuries but you can't have 4 centre-backs. i wouldn't work. You see what happens to players like Mangala when they are in then out. Savic. Boateng. Every player needs to play regularly to play at their best. And you need progression for young players.

The only way we buy Laporte and Stones is if two centre backs get sold. Or like someone said we play 3 at the back. I don't think we will do that
We could also rely on Pep to help one of them develop into a top CDM. I know its normally the other way with him pushing players like Mascherano and Martinez back but as I've said before it could be that Pep will develop one of them to play in front of the back four. They are both, i.e. Stones and Laporte, good on the ball and with a good range of passing but can also break up play. Bayern had some real problems with injuries to their back four and can see that, with more games in England, he may want more cover with players who can switch positions.

There are plenty rags but I see more Barnsley shirts knocking about than anything else. I've seen quite a few City shirts too, mostly on kids. There's even a kid on our street who plays football in the road in his City shirt.
Yeah I've got mates in Royston who I get over to see every now and again and they're Barnsley fans. Their main circle of friends who I've been out with are made up of a mixture of Barnsley, Leeds and rags.

Fuck me if he goes to the Rags. It will haunt us for many years. Txiki better get this done. #announcestones #stonenouncement

Is that Royston Vasey?

The U16s are City's star youth team. Khaldoon was talking about them. How Guardiola would transition them to 1st team, make them better players etc. It's academic anyway. Unlikely Stones would sign if Laporte signs - he'd have trouble making the bench let alone the 1st team.

Well obviously Martin has gone, mangala will be sold and vinny is injured? Even when vinny is fit it'll be tender hooks waiting for his next injury? Add to the mix otamendi is rash as fuck and comes in and out of form then Laporte, who is also injured but not fair off full training and stones might not be such a bad idea!

You might be comfier on tenterhooks ;-)

maybe he's just a really good defender ? if morgan had played an entire season under pep, who knows he could be really good. he's a title winning defender,so he isn't rubbish. you sound kinda ignorant to morgan aha

Where did I say he was rubbish. I said he was great IN THE SYSTEM HE PLAYED. With all do respect, Pep would never have Morgan on his team. I am sorry if you don't understand that.

Do you actually know what I was talking about initially? Why on God's earth would I want Wes Morgan at my football club?

Didn't say you did. I am pointing out that posters (not you specifically) say this defender is shit and this one is class blah blah. When all of it is complete bullshit. John Stones is both shit and world class. It depends on what you ask him to do.

Also you said that it would be better to pair a ball playing defender with a "brute" which is evidence you know nothing about how Pep plays. That would be an utter disaster for a Pep team.
