As I have mentioned here before that I was told by a very reputable source that this deal was done a good while back.

Maybe we are not announcing it to help Everton?

Would make sense, let them get a replacement without being screwed over for the price

Hope not, a lot of money (50mil...seriously?) for a player in below average form and who can't get into the national team regularly.
It is very expensive granted. he's only really had the one full season in the Bundesliga as far as I can see. But looks very very talented and has the strength and pace to terrify defenders. It's hard to justify the fees being paid now, but if you pose it another way............Out of all the signings made by premiership clubs, which excite you? You would have to name him amongst them.

Your user name is about right, either your fishing or clearly not seeing sense, average form whilst in limbo and clearly got talent that needs extracting by the worlds best manager, if only we had him

I think John Stones isn't worth the fee right now. But that's not the point. He can be worth well over that amount, and he will be if Pep gets the best out of him.
And besides, transfer fees don't really matter anymore. The club can easily afford £50 million, as can almost any Premier League club if they really want to.
