This transfer would also be made a lot easier if Stones also adds pressure from within

I don't think that's fair. Stones has told Everton he wants to leave, and that City are the team he wants to join. He can't really do much more. It's not for him to dictate the price, that's for the two clubs to resolve.

True, he didn't have the greatest if seasons last year, him wanting to leave might have been a factor in that, are they going to take a chance of that propagating through the following season

Ah well, if the reports are correct and it's now up to the two teams to negotiate a fee then it'll be interesting to see who blinks first. There are two views on this board where transfer fees are concerned:

1. Just pay the bloody free and get the player. It's only a matter of a few £million and with the amount of dosh swilling around the game, and looking at the bigger picture, it's not that important.
2. Fuck off, he's not worth £50m and we've currently got players in the squad who we've overspent on and will take big losses on.

For me personally, I don't care about the fee. It appears, if reports are to be believed, that we're going to move Bony and Mangala on, and will definitely take a loss on both - this appears to irk some of our fans. Doesn't bother me one bit, as teams have made loses on players time and again since the transfer market went haywire. Hey, I like Sterling and think he done ok last season, but he certainly didn't look £50m worth of footballer - but he has plenty of time, and I genuinely believe he'll end up being worth every penny.

So I suppose my view is, get the player.

My guess would be that we are stuck at 40mil, whilst saying to Everton we are happy to sit down and negotiate, whereas Everton will be saying 50mil or we don't speak.

If we have taken this stance we have to see it through. If we end up paying the full whack again we will continually find ourselves being held to ransom.

True. But we will also see ourselves without some signings. It is a sellers market now, especially in the Premiership. The new money means no one needs to sell. Everton don't want to sell and know that next season his price will be £60 mill or more.

Given the lunatic combined fees we paid for Mangala a couple of years ago its no wonder clubs hold out for top dollar.

Transfer fees are simply insane nowadays.

Everton have the stronger hand here:

1. They have new richer owners
2. Stones has a contract that sees him through to 2019 and he'll be worth the same or more next year
3. Homegrown players go for double
4. City need homegrown players desperately and a ball playing centre back. There isn't a homegrown alternative
5. Sterling went for similar

Dont rate this guy at all, cant defend.Play Ferna at the back if we need to play out the back ffs.
I called it on here before we signed Mangala(although I pray he comes good)and would like to go on record to say that Stones will be a disaster of a signing.Fuck Everton too.
