John Stones

Every morning I wake up and this thread has 20 new responses...the fact that nobody at all seems to want him and those that do say it's a gamble at best is plenty enough for me. If we end up paying 40m or more........then end up with Laporte, Stones, and Gundogan.....

And Pep

I no longer pay any attention to transfer fees. I want the best, it might be my team but it aint my money so fuck it.
That's true but we have a set budget and we'd blow a shed load of it on a player who doesn't appear to be any better than we already have. Therefore limiting the amount available to bolster much more needs areas of the team.

Wrong analogy Bill. They ain't cart horses. Demented puppies changing round the house, maybe, cart horses no.

Is it just me? Watching him play for England and Everton (granted on the telly), I just see a very poor defender - easily turned, error prone and gives the ball away a lot. Every man and his dog seem to rate him so what am I missing?

I've felt for a while that there's a chance that Pep could convert him into a defensive mid. I'm convinced people will be eating humble pie over Raheem next summer and I'm hoping it'll be the case if we sign Stones.

He looks ok on the ball but as Lee Dixon pointed out, he probably needs to play with a more experienced centre half at this stage of his career. The thought of Stones and Otemendi playing for us next season fills me with dread!

People won't eat humble pie. Because even if he played brilliantly for 20 games, woe be tied him if he puts one foot or pass out of place.

He'll be off to the Rags now Maureen is joining the scum. No doubt the media will get off Stones back and he will become the new Phil Jones!!!
