John Stones

if bony is involved going the other way than that just makes this all the sweeter as far as Im concerned.....we get a centre half that we definitely need and we get rid of a player who isn't going to be any use to us at all....

Plus it makes me think we will go for another forward int he transfer window as I cannot see us going into a long season with just Kun and kelechi (even with jesus joining in december/january) as that would be suicidal.
Nolito

wide forward who can also play as a forward.....not what is required for me........he isn't a striker....just a wide player who weighs in with some goals (added bonus but over a long stretch of a season with a long standing injury to Kun he won't be good enough)

And risk having an unhappy player for another 12 months who's already told them that he wants to progress (which means leaving Everton). That'll be 2 seasons where your board have screwed up over Stones, I think we'll hold at the £40 million mark and make them sweat.

Everything is possible and I guess it will be Lescott all over again if its not true that we already have a deal. Its counterproductive to keep a player two seasons against his will because it will effect the group and it will make players think twice before joining.

Everton would be stupid to keep him this summer. His performances last season were rank, they won't improve this season if he's forced to stay whilst City march on with Pep.

In terms of it going to deadline day, I suspect John himself will take matters into his own hands before that. You can maybe keep a player one year against his will, but two years with a player of his quality with no European football, uncertainty over your other best players, and no real force shown in the market in terms of improving your own squad to stop it regressing never mind standing still ... yeah Stones will get his move. And if he doesn't then you will have a player who's value is going to plummet next season. As I say keeping him this summer will be pure stupidity on the part of your owners. But they're new to owning and running a club so they will make mistakes early doors.

This is your opinion. You are entitled to it, misguided as you may be.

Seems to be the common theme from City fans now. First it was "He's going to City". Then it was "He won't want to stay". Now, it's "You'd be stupid to keep him". I imagine next will be "He's not that great anyway".

Sounds like a way of resigning yourself to what might happen.

Colin, Everton aren't going to sweat over that. We want to keep Stones but will let him go for the right price. No sleep will be lost if you keep your offer at £40m because Everton are quite happy to say "£50m or no".

Also: Moshiri is absolutely not new to running a football club. He has been a major shareholder in football clubs since before you were bought out by the UAE.

Everton do not need cash.

Of course you do and all because of the FFP rules you voted for when casting an envious eye down the East lancs.

You have been told, tho horse has bolted, the stable door is now shut and regardless of how much cash your owner has, he just cant spend it and its all thanks to FFP.

Not sure I understand your response. Are you saying he will need to be a good defender and that he currently is?

He's saying that it doesn't matter how bad a defender you think he is because Pep values ability on the ball much more.

From what I've heard very recently from the club, FFP isn't going to restrict what we can do at all this summer. I did have my reservations about that, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
