John Stones

Yep, the very own world's most expensive player that managed a 'massive' 8 goals in 35 appearances in Serie A last season.

Compared to our alleged under achiever Raheem Sterling who scored a meager 7 goals in 35 appearances in the shoddy Premier League last season.

50m pounds will get you a whole goal more ;)

impressed with him in his interview, calm and assured not fazed by anything, looking forward to him pulling on the sky blue

I know a couple and they are genuinely not bothered. In fact they think they're stronger short term with Ashley Williams plus they have 30 mil in the bank. Can't argue really.
He didn't want to play for them any more and his form dipped last season so in terms of organising a back 4 and clearing their penalty area Williams is a good replacement. However the money is not significant. A) Moshiri is a Billionaire and B) If you believe the papers they have offered £30m for Berahino. As someone said, "there is no value in the market"

Just watched the interview, and as others have said, he seems a really nice, down-to-earth lad and genuinely excited to be at City.

Irriates me to see Raheem being called a flop. He had a good season and started really well. Was in the the team of the group stage in the Champions League. Only English player and second player from the PL (Willian). Of course he's inconsistent but he's only 21. Managed to produce the same numbers as his last season at Liverpool but played less games in a new team with a lot more pressure, under a manager who didn't let him express himself and also got injured. Was everybody expecting at 21 year old to come in and score 20 goals right away? Given the circumstances I would say Raheem excelled. He will have a great season under Pep and learn a lot.

John Stones will hopefully also have a great season. Excited to see him play now that his mind is sorted and he's fully focused. Some of his dribbling and passing is really class. Takes a lot of balls to dribble in his own box like he did that one game. I don't see the price being an issue, we didn't make him the most expensive defender in the world like I predicted before and Chelsea were ready to pay 40m last season. Ok, Stones didn't have a great year but the potential is there and inflation this summer has soared. Seems like a humble person that will do everything for the team.

100m for both these players will be seen as a bargain in a few years. Stones and Sterling will be starting every game at the international level for years to come and will be helping us win trophies. They both have enormous potential; at 22 and 21 respectively have their whole careers ahead of them and have a combined 200 Premier League appearances already, both could become genuine world class players.

Listen, excited for Stones n'all that.

But can this lad defend? Am hearing mixed opinions here. I mean, Pep will help surely but for such a massive signing he shouldn't have holes in his game..
He can defended but his positional sense can be way off but I think that's through concentration more than anything. He switches off.

The best thing is he's 22 and has Guardiola and Planchart to guide him through where he should position himself and constrarion can be trained through training techniques just like fitness can.

The lad is excellent on the ball though, always n total control and has total awareness:

(Loved the way he goes "calm down" to the Everton fans at the end!)

If he reaches his full potential almost any price is a bargain for a world class centre back.. Centre backs can play at the highest level until they're like.. Mid thirties. Stones could be lifting the premier league as our captain in like 2030!

Agree with every word....... Aside from the international bit. I hope to fuck they both get dropped and just concentrate on City. I hate international football with a passion as it just mostly serves to get in the way of the real business of League & Cup football......... Rant over :-)

Just been watching Peaky Blinders and wanted to ask if anyone else think Stones has an uncanny resemblance to Tommy?

Well hopefully he doesn't turn into the scarecrow or try to subsist on a diet solely made up of HP brown sauce.
