Disappointing. There aren't many alternatives. Possibly the only one was Lucio but he's gone to Inter. I suspect that the signings may well be over, and we go with what we have. No point signing players unless they are significantly better than what we have.

It's going to be a hugely exciting season

when Mark Hughes was confirmed as manager for this season, the goal was announced at the same time, and the goal was the minimum of 6th place, not 4th.

Correct, but that does not mean we should not try to get fourth does it?

I dont want Hughes to just focus on keeping his job, he should try and get us as high up in the leauge as possible.

Oh what the heck, slap in a 95m bid for Lionel Messi, one last throw for a marquee name this summer, ;)

as far as I can make out, sheiky doesnt sweat the small stuff, doesn't lose the plot everytime there is a setback (what exactly would be the point?). the rest of us would do well to follow his example.
Spot on Bizzbo.

i dont care what any of you say not getting john terry is a major dent to us not getting into the top 4 imho which i have no doubts what so ever that hughes cook and the owners what this season coming.

sorry but some of you are being so deluded that terry was not right for us i try to look on the footballing side of things here and it really is a shame we could not get him he would of made the difference between 4th and 5th place to us.

i trust manchester city have a plan if not terry sombody else but we wont get much better than terry,we are still on the up without terry so all is still good and lets see what we can get defensive wise before the window closes or even more hopefully before the first game of the season.

toure & lescott would see us into the top 4......terry not the be all and end all.....

as ive said no terry is not the be all and end all but having terry would of made a major differnace i have no doubts and i do agree if we get lescott and toure we will push the top 4 only if these guys are on top form.

Yeah, but how many setbacks before they all combine to be not 'small stuff' any more, and become a trend?

Hopefully not many more.

People need to get a fucking grip we have already added 4 quality top 4 players. We will get the 2 central defenders we need to make us a top 4 challenging side.

Chill the fuck out.

Agreed. Terry would have been the difference between top 4 and 5th or 6th.

And Lescott and Toure wouldnt ?

Not in my opinion no. I reckon Terry is exactly the type of player we need to break the top 4. Lescott & Toure are good players and certainly better than what we have but not in the Terry class.
