There were articles in the press suggesting both Tevez and Adebayor were near certain to have a future at CFC. Only to sign for City about 3 days later... ;)

That's not true, there were stories suggesting we may try to hijack the deals for those respective players, but it was quite clear those players were going to go to City at that point anyway. Nowhere were there statements that said they were certain to have a future at Chelsea.

But, still, I'm being pedantic and agree that most newspapers are full of bollocks.

Just a note to say the only time I can get a translation to translate near perfectly back into English is when the translator I chose to write it in is used in reverse!

Not to say that our Chelsea friend would lie about his Russian connections - and frankly im not arsed!

Theres been a few good reads on tonight though but were all stilll exactly where we were this time yesterday apart from the not quotes article much referred to tonight, which doesnt mean that much!

The overall feel is that he aint coming though I havent give up all hope.

The ;) was supposed to indicate a tongue in cheek remark, there may or may not have been a splash of artistic license in that post! Still, Chelsea getting involved with City's targets isn't working out too well for them of late, is it? Let's see if 'third time's a charm,' eh? ;)

An interesting piece in the Mail...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/

Since arriving in the USA, Chelsea have become increasingly bullish about their chances of keeping John Terry.

[...]

After beating Inter Milan in Pasadena in the early hours of yesterday, chief executive Peter Kenyon breezed out into the desert night in his pastel pink linen shirt, flashing smiles and reinforcing the message that the club captain was going nowhere.

Terry has had further talks with Kenyon and Roman Abramovich during the American tour and the club believe they have struck a deal. Yet still he remains silent and still Manchester City manager Mark Hughes pursues him with gusto, preparing another raid with money-no-object assurances from the club's Arab owners.

If there is a verbal agreement already in place for him to sign an improved contract at Stamford Bridge, the England skipper is doing a good job of keeping City in the dark. Terry looked tanned and perfectly relaxed after playing 90 minutes in the 2-0 win against Inter, strolling out of the dressing rooms in his tracksuit to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans.

'Oh yeah, and I wonder what the first question will be,' he grinned, when asked to stop and talk to English reporters. He promised there would be something to say very soon. 'Are you working for them?' he replied with a jerk of his head, when asked by an American fan in a Chelsea shirt if he was going to Manchester City. Why shouldn't he be feeling chipper in the Land of Opportunity?

Haha, yeah, Alonso will never come to Chelsea, I'll tell you that right away. I think he'll go to Real, if he is going anywhere, to be fair.

Regarding JT, we'll see, but I think looking at various signals being made, Chelsea may have the upper hand in this one at the moment.

since when did some of us on here go back to believing what the papers said again???
You can train dogs, but some people just wont learn

The nay sayers will always be with us, it seems.

Just out of interest, who is the Torygraph's source suppost to be? Nothing about it on the OS of either club other than what was said yesterday.

Incidently, has there been a fall out between the City and the Daily Mail. They are suddenly consistently hostile and hardly ever right? They used to be pro City and they tended to get the lion's share of exclusives from City. Now they're even worse than the Daily Minger.
