He wasn't "proven innocent". He was found not guilty as the evidence wasn't strong enough to convict him. There's no doubt he said what he said but there was reasonable doubt that it was said to Ferdinand as an insult, as opposed to Terry's story that he was repeating what Ferdinand had accused him of saying.
