John Tudor

I don’t remember the name at all.

R. I. P. John.
I remember the name as he was part of my 1st ever collection of football player cards (the fore runner to the panini stickers ),from the late70s iirc.
The football cards came in packets of 6 players I think ,with a free strip of pink bubble gum....exciting times as a kid ....I remember also a striker called Paul Cannell and midfielder Tommy Cassidy from this era of Newcastle players.

It's funny how little things stay in your head all these years.....
When John Tudor was at Newcastle, Tudor crisps went from being a local north east product and went national.
Although based in Sunderland, as a 10 - 12 year old kid, it was the same place as Newcastle and I had it in my head that John's family ran the crisp factory.
Just googled Tudor crisps - started in 1947, bought by Smiths in 1960 but they continued with using the Tudor brand until 2003, when Nabisco bought out Smiths, in 1982, joining them with Walkers that they also owned and Tudor's brand was discontinued.

I started collecting my first set in January 1970, which led directly to me becoming a Frannie, and therefore, a City fan.

I remember them a being four in a pack, with a piece of bubble gum.
