John Wardle, how important was he to where we are now?

Thaksin didn't invest. Not one single solitary penny. He just got us into more debt that nearly wiped us out.

What do you believe will have happened had he not managed to sell the Club as quickly as he did? Personally, I was always suspect as to why we were on TV so much and why there were so many Concerts at The COMS. There should be no need to do that if we financially solvent.

Hopefully that myth that Thaksin Shinawatra's personal connections got us sold to the Abu Dhabi chaps will also be banished. They banned him from City and thankfully he's no longer seen anywhere near us. I really hate Politicians.

They actually made him Life President.
He wasn't banned, but exiled in (China??) and told if he returned to the UK he would be extradited to Thailand.
It was only after his trial (that he failed to attend) was going ahead and all the shit came out when he was stripped of his Life Presidency.

Had the balls to go on the Radio and slate off Lee and his chairmanship when we were only heading down resulting in Bernstein coming in. And I'm pretty sure Bernstein was referring to him when he said he'd just seen one of the directors skipping across the pitch at one of the old end of season pitch invasions. The only thing you can fault him for is running the club from the heart as any fan would. PS think where we'd be if Swales, Bowler, Franny etc... was asked to stump up the cash Wardle put in at short notice
That was Makin. No respect for him particularly as he slagged of Franny but then sat in the background and didn't show that he could do better. Wardle at least ook the chairmanship on, even if he was the wrong person for the job.

I believe that JW and DM agreed that John represented both of them on the board, though I can't remember the exact reason why.

We saw him at a meeting at the stadium (organised by the P&W branch, IIRC) when the negotiations with Frank were at an advanced stage (he couldn't say anything about them, but did try to assure all gathered that things were moving forward.

He came across as a genuinely nice man, who only had the club's interests at heart and I will never say a bad word about him or David Makin.

John Wardle was crucial to our progress,he`s a very smart business man,and knew he had to get people in with real money.
John W and DM still run a successful retail business locally(Foot Asylum)and sort of realised they were out of there depth at city.

We had plenty of money coming in (we had the 7th highest turnover in the PL) but we weren't run very well. We were paying far more in wages than was sustainable to players looking for a final pay-day and that involved signng-on fees etc. A shrewd manager, a good CEO & a strong chairman could have done something with the club but we had none of those.

look at arsenal..fractured shareholding structure. so no-one will invest cos they can't make the business return. why should I put my money in if you won't?

so you will only put it in as loans so you can get it back out. that was wardle & makin. great blues no doubt but the best thing they did was sweep the old guard away especially the remnants of swales/boler and yes lee. and frankie was the vehicle for that. without him no sheikh mansour cos no-one would invest until there was a single owner to be bought out.

wardle/makin represented a minority shareholding but they were the only ones who gave a shit and would invest. for that many thanks and respect. but equally they needed to go along with all the other bit part players.

He didn't deserve to be made Life President like he didn't deserve to make ANY money out of City. I was so uncomfortable with his presence from day one because he didn't appear to have City's best interest at heart. We were publicity for him.

100% thick cúnt.

in an interview about moving to our new ground he kept talking about the wide open concourses, but kept referring to them as wide open "concordes".

Self made multi millionaire and you dismiss him as a "thick ****"

Remind us all what you do for a living?
