Joleon Lescott

still scratching my head at him being dropped for bayern and for England one of the top performing central defenders in the league at this moment!

Kolo starting that game almost made me fall over when i saw it. Yes he has CL experience but so do BATE Borisov players and they are still shite

50 successfully completed passes out of 50 which precisely either back to Vinnie or further far back Hart lol, LOVE Lescott but need to improve his game and not to panic damn it. lol

Oh.. while we at it, I've noticed when Hart gain possession of the ball preferably throwing it or pass it to "Clichy" more then others no?

Incorrect. As already posted here, 32 of the 50 were forward passes. Only 11 of the 50 were categorised as short passes.

Credit where it's due and all that.

Stats are from the 442 Statszone Iphone app. Lots of data in there from Otpa.

As for long balls, comparing the first seven matches of this season to the last seven of last season we're slightly down on the number of long balls (158 this season to 170 last season).

Without having looked at the stats I'd say we have had more possession of the ball this season as well so as a percentage I'd say it would be a bigger decrease in long balls being played.
Thanks for the response to my query re. long passes.

To me it's a poor decision that benefit Lescott.
I wouldn't say "dropped" Lescott, CL experiences factor is more likely however it's a poor decision and bad day at office for Mancini, the he whole team was class A shittt be honest but it's OK, were getting BETTER going forward no doubts.

In honesty mate it would be almost an impossibility to have been worse that game. The fact it was 2-0 was the biggest shock of the night I ment to say Kolo has CL experience but that counts for nothing when you havnt played much in the last 9-10 months. Obviously Tevez deciding he was God didnt help matters at all

Seriously Freestyler, all you have just done is proved to everybody with a football brain you are clueless when it comes to footballing matters in judging how good a defender is.

Since when do you have to be good on the ball to be a class centre back ? The job of a centre half if you didn't know is to keep the ball out of the net, something which Joleon has proved on a consistent basis.

Is Lescott good on the ball ? NO.

Is Kolo good on the ball ? YES.

Is Lescott an excellent centre back ? YES

Is Kolo an excellent centre back ? NO.

Same comparison can be made with Ferdinand and David Luiz.

You claim he is uncomfortable on the ball when an opposition player is within 5 yards of him ? Do you have any evidence to back your point up or any particular examples of this scenario happening or taking place ?

He has been our best centre back for a long time, and his positional ability is streets ahead of Kompany.

and you've just proved to everybody how you can't read a post properley.

like i said i couldn't care less about his passing, as long as he doesn't hoof ir forward like he used to do.

if were talking about his passing, i'm stating the obvious. because he got something like a 98% passing rate percentage he's suddenly become the best thing since sliced bread!

i was just saying, his passing is his weakest part of his game, i know he's not there to do that job, but i was just highlighting his weakness is passing.

you say where's the evidence, search this board and you'll find ALOT of people saying the same thing.

the above answers my first post, how many times has he put his own player under pressure with a bad pass, and we've lost it? it's happened alot.

anyway all that aside my original post was highlighting his passing game, that's all.

and the last part with Kompany must be a joke right? why did Lescott get dropped against Bayern? ...cause against Napoli he had a disaster and was all over the place, if were talking position wise, that night said everything.

quality defender, but imo our weak link when it comes to playing with the big boys of Europe.

It's not that people say he's rubbish with it at his feet, it's the fact and i will admit i'm one of these people who say it..

when he has the ball and a player is within 10 yards of him he's so uncomfortable on the ball.

a high percentage rate looks good when you pass the ball to another player, who's no more than 5 yards away, 25-30 times a game.

the point is he can't pass a ball further than 15 yards forward without giving it away, and his get out if he can't is a huge lump forward.

anyway his passing forward doesn't concern me, i just wish he would stop twatting it forward for no reason.

Im liking lescott more and more but this is 100% correct!

Interesting stat for all the moaners who say he is crap with the ball at his feet - top passer in the PL yesterday with 50 successfully completed passes out of 50, well done Joleon
Jolean is right up there with my club favourites. He celebrates all goals as much as the goal scorer. Really like the guy. I felt offended when Mancini dropped him for Munchen. He's been our best defender so far this season, and long may it continue!

(There were people actually posting over the summer that we should sign Scott Dann or Garry Cahill to replace Lescott!!!)

Not being funny mate but how can you get that from us playing 2 games in Europe; he wasn't even there for the spanking by Munich?
