Jon Venables "Unmasked"

I have said i have mixed feelings but am not really comfortable sentancing 10 year olds to 80 years in prison .there are many many notorious murderers .rapists ,padephiles who havent served as long as Venables .why is it that it is ok for other scum to get out of prison but not these 2
I'm just talking about this one case mate. The sentencing laws in this country are a pathetic joke. Just last week that yank woman got just 16 years, (out in 8), for killing her two lads in Scotland because 'she feared losing them in a custody battle'. Course, she blamed not being right in the head so got a lenient sentence. Her ex, the kids' dad, now has to live with the fact his kids are dead. That woman should have been sent down for life, with no chance of being released. Not right in the head my fucking arse. In contrast to that 'sentence' there was the sentencing of diamond thieves who robbed a jewelers in London, and they each got a minimum of 27 years! How the fuck is that right? 16 for taking TWO young lives, but 27 for robbing some fucking gems? Crazy, just absolutely fucking crazy. Venables and Thomson should have gone down for life. Those Yanks have it right, dishing out 250 year sentences. We should adopt that.

have they learnt from their mistakes cyberblue? no. have they ever shown remorse? have they gone to lead a stable life? no. their dirty f**king scum whose existence relies soley on the tax payers money.

they should be in prison until the day of their last breath. not for punishment, but to keep them away from normal people. they are not normal, and as a society..we should be able to identify those who pose a consistent threat of danger to others around them and erradicate them from our lives.

they will never be socialized into leading respectful lifes and brutally murdered a toddler. regardless of criminal age and responsibility, what they done was barbaric and they should never be free to walk around the streets where other children are.
There are hunreds of other "f**king scum" being released from prison every year

If anyone is in the slightest unaware/un-sure of how terrible this crime was I suggest you read the link below (It is truely harrowing, so some may choose not to) and then possibly look again at your feelings in respect of the sentences handed out to these two!

I was only 15 at the time and never really took it in what they did. Over the years, especially from 2001 when they were released, i've looked more in depth at what they did. Evil doesn't even come close to describing the horrible twats. Even at the age of ten they should have had no borstal, no comfy beds, no this, no that, just treated with how I would treat the inhumane, the scum of society. They should have had a concrete bed, a cell with no windows, 1 hour of exercise a day and 3 of the most basic meals known to man. No visitors ever for the length of their sentence - the most basic and mind numbingly horrible existence possible. If they had that from 1993 until now when they are touching 30, they would now be in such a deranged state of mind that justice would be just starting to happen. Another 50 years of that and justice would be more or less dished out, or as much as it could be anyway. Fuck the fact they were 10. Their cries to sleep at night in the early years would have been a joy to listen too. Words can't describe how much I hate these 2 twats.

I could never agree with the Yanks but you are spot on with how daft our sentancing laws are ,dont forget the cases that get thrown out or not guilty because of some technicality

What, like the need to prove guilt?

the need to prove guilt is absolute .some cases dont even go to court or people are charged with a lesser offence to save time or money that is the technical bit i was on about

I understand why some people feel execution was the best option for these two, yet does the murder of child, child murderers really get us anywhere!?

I'm not sure whether I agree they should have got life sentences. I know it was a horrendous crime and that poor child was made to suffer, I just struggle with the concept of a lifetimes punishment for an act committed by a 10 year old. I agree they should have got longer sentences but I also think their rehabilitation was mucked up in a big way. In a time of mass media coverage, the powers that be just did not know what to do about Thompson and Venables and got it wrong from day one.

I know that the majority will disagree, yet I actually have some sympathy for them (edit) as children, in that they had awful upbringings and pretty grim existences and it's a shame it affected them so badly that it lead them to that day. The parents should have been partly accountable for the death of that child.

And before anyone asks 'what about the victims', it should go without saying that I have the utmost sympathy for the Bulgers, what they have been through is horrific and I can't imagine something like that happening to my family. It's awful that it keeps getting dragged up, even 18 years later.
