Got to back Pep's judgement on this one. Hopefully he can be the one that catalyses our defence.

The big but I have is that if he turns out to be as bad as some on here prophesy will Pep persevere with him? I know he will probably need a little time to settle in but Pep has City history re Bravo in continuing to pick his signings despite their obvious unsuitability for the job.

but to be fair, he dropped Nolito like a stone all of a sudden.

Johnny fucking Evans...???????

Seriously now, fuck right off.

He's a decent backup player for 20-30 games per season in all competitions, of the kind the Rags were excellent at producing or procuring back in the day. This role in the squad should likewise be filled by a homegrown player or an experienced stop gap. Despite the staggering inflation in the market, "reserve centerback" should not be a £30 million 29-year old from a distinctly unambitious mid-table side.

I am sure one of the ITKs said a week ago this was definitely not happening.

Nah, it's on baby.

With the best will in the world, for the most part, when it comes to domestic competition, the opponents of Bayen and Barca simply roll over like two dollar tarts... Thus making the need for the coach to become an expert in watertight defensive strategies virtually null & void

Fair point.
Perhaps Pep now realises he needs a bit of steel in defence as well as ball skills from goalie to ball boy at least at PL level.
Each game is a trial and each game has its different problems to overcome eg parking the bus whereas you rightly point out teams used to roll over in other foreign leagues.

I still feel that if we sorted out our ability to shoot with accuracy goals would make our defensive problems a thing we can live with for the odd goal.

Good post mate!

I imagine him heading one past the scum. Positives thoughts hey better than oh he could fcuk up guess what all players make mistakes even would class players and the people with the negative mindset look for the faults, highlight the fault, moan about the faults, when in fact a player could do 10 positive contribution but the 1 bad tackle bad pass the negative mindset fans make a meal out of it.

I know all players make mistakes and unlike some I'm not totally against this signing, ex rag or not. I actually hope playing against them (and all the other teams) he will feel like he's got a point to prove and will put in a good performance. But you just know if he makes a mistake against them some will have a meltdown, he hasn't even signed yet and some are already in full meltdown lol

Of course they'll have Melt down they made there minds up before seeing him. I judge a player whoever he is on how does for city, if after half dozen games he looks poor and another expensive Centre Back Flop I'll hold my hands up. Never prejudge.

Spot on.

Can't disagree with anything you've said there SF. It drives me nuts when players, seemingly in the perfect to shoot, find it's compulsory to always try the extra pass
