Jonny Evans

To those saying the top centre back will be targeted next summer in light of this, I still don't see the sense. That will leave us in a position where we're trying to move on one of our four next summer to bring someone in and taking a big hit as we struggle to shift them because of their wages.

agreed.

Was it April 1st yesterday?
Can you imagine the training? Nice intricate passing till the ball gets to Jonny who hoofs it 70 yards saying: "Ave it."

Not really. We're always going to need 5 CB's.

A normal team who play 4 at the back can get away with 4, but we have Kompany, so we have to have an insurance policy. A normal team who play 3 at the back would have 5, but we have Kompany.

So frankly if we bought Evans, we'd still have plenty of room for a big summer signing next year if we wanted one. Particularly if that summer signing was someone like Lucas Hernandez who could cover LB.

Nope, I don't think that was the question either.

That is the question though.

We know from what decent journo's and the ITK's have said that Pep wants someone:

- Left sided
- Comfortable on the ball
- Experienced
- Not enormously expensive

And because the season has started, we know that someone who could step in straight away would be handy.

Evans is a rag, but he ticks all of those boxes.

Who's a experienced, left sided CB who's good with the ball and can step in immediately to be our 4th choice option for a season or two?

If he wasn't a former United player, no one would give a shit.

You are wrong there mate....I agree him being an ex scum player clouds people's judgement but he is also seriously shite.
He is a bang average players who because he played for the scum was bigged up by the media to be the next Baresi etc...no way on earth is he good enough for us.
Is it peps way of saying to the powers that be that we need to spend big on a centre half?

Simple question would you swop Mangala plus £10 million for Evans I for one would say no.

I'm not saying he is world class or even close, but on the same note he is know where near as bad as many have made him sound on this thread!
He is a very good defender in this league, a safe pair of hands if you like!
Not bothered if he signs, not exactly crucial we get him but if we do he won't let us down

Come on, byb, he's never been this good! The pictures that stick in the mind with 'Ere's Jonny' are the bemused looks on his face when his goalie is picking the ball out of the net and the line going between his ears "How the fuck did that get in?"

Guardiola thinks he's good enough to be our fourth choice CB, and after reading similar opinions on how Danilo was shite, Ederson wasn't worht it because he'd only played in portugal and Walker was just an athlete who no one would pay above 25m for, I'm pretty happy to give him his pick of targets.

He's not earning plaudits for playing for United, he's getting recognition for being at fucking West Brom, the most unfashionable, least fawned-on-by-the-media club in the country with the exception of possibly Stoke.

Guardiola isn't looking at him and thinking, "I seem to recall Samuel Luckhurst saying he'd be the new Beckenbauer 6 years ago, I'll buy him!" is he?

If he was any good Utd would not have let him go.
