Jonny Evans

Someone needs sacking if they sanction this transfer. In fact, it would be the worst transfer in PL history if were to sign him for the rumoured price tag regardless of how inflated the market currently is.

Just a few reasons why we shouldn't sign him:
  1. He's shite
  2. He's shite and a rag
  3. He's shite and he'd be our 5th best CB if we signed him
  4. He's shite and plays for the most defensive side in the PL after United, nothing like we do.
Jonny Evans FFS!

He'd have to be a brave man to sign for us. There seems to be wall to wall hostility from most blues. I don't think he's good enough for City. Don't care about his Raggy past, though.

Pep doesn't seem to think so and he's on his way to guiding us to a historical league victory, smashing every record in the process.

If Pep thinks he's the right fit for our squad, then he's the right fit. He's earned the right to sign whom he deems fit for the role. I'm surprised at the hostility towards the signing given the season we're having and general success of our recent transfers.

He's not even remotely shite either - he'd be a very solid backup option to have in the squad. We're not after a first choice CB, we're after an experienced player who can slot in when one of Stones/Otamendi needs a rest/is injured. Evans ticks most boxes, maybe apart from age, which isn't the end of the world for a CB - we could feasibly get 2/3 decent years out of him.

Just because Pep is taking us to another level in the PL doesn't mean than we cannot criticise transfers. In fact, Txiki's transfers have been very hit and miss so far and spending the better part of £30 million on a back-up CB who is not as good as our current back-up CB (who we also spent over £30 million on) doesn't seem like good value.

Also, he is shite as proven by the fact that West Brom are level on points with Swansea at the bottom of the PL and play in an extremely defensive formation.

I've watched him for years & recently studied the pluses & minuses to his game & come to the conclusion that it's a big fat NO....because he's a RED BASTARD .

A fair point. I assumed the chat in the summer was because we were short of options and running out of transfer window. If after another four months of presumably scouring world football he is still our best/only option, then something is either badly wrong with our strategy or pep/txiki see something we don't.

Mid afternoon this thread had dropped to about 6th or 7th and I thought it was gradually being put to bed!

Can we just please, at a time when a bid may happen for any player, stop posting on this thread and causing my heart needless palpitations?

Thank you.

I get the feeling this moving closer

Pep choses the players, so if you're criticising us buying Evans, you aren't criticising Txiki, you're criticising Pep, the person who chose him as the player he wanted.

It's not hilarious if it's true we were a midges tit away from paying 30 mil for him, in the summer & might still be interested now.

I still remember when we signed Alan Kernaghan.

Wonder which is bigger - a midge's tit or a gnat's dick? Whichever! I just hope that Marwood, Txixi and Beggers have got a trusty bargepole handy if Pep sez he needs Jonny. Frankly, I'd sooner have a recording of Johnny Cash playing at CB.

He's a shit ex rag who nobody wants ,can you imagine the mixed reception he would receive if we sign him, fuck him off back to the swamp

Every time he asks about JFE, they should quickly change the subject, bring up the topic of Catalan independance, then sneak out the door.

Yes DEB, I think if we dug Johnny up he`d still be a better C/B than Jonny (I didnt touch her) Evans.

I remember it well. It first announced on Sky Sports Footballers Football Show live from the City Social Club in 93 when John Maddocks was a guest on the show post the Reid sacking. 1.6 million iirc for an immoble and positionally hopeless centre half. Must say though during our darker days we did buy much worse than big Al.

Apart from Creaney, I'm struggling to remember any tbf.
