Plus one on this, when Gundogan played the press stopped and the hunting in packs to get the ball back stopped, thus giving the scousers lots of opportunity to build up a head of steam and come at us which no other team we have faced last season had the opportunity to do so.

It was Gundo who gave Otamendi a horror backwards pass for the Mane goal, as he was pressed with his back to the play.

Again, Gundo was pressed and pulled out of the the tackle which led to the Chamberlain strike in the Champions League game.

I like him, lovely technician, but only for certain games.

Is Gundogan even happy here? Maybe it's just me but he always seems a bit distant from the rest If you know what I mean. Maybe he's just a very private person, I don't know.

We should move him on, I feel for him but he’s ben a major disappointment for me.

If he's happy to be a squad player then I would be okay to keep him - we can afford it.

Seems a great character in the dressing room and can get away with it in the homes games against the likes of Leicester, Bournemouth, etc.

NEVER in a game against real top opposition though.

No reason to move him on he is still a very good player and maybe not a first choice but as a squad player replacing him would be difficult. Maybe in another year or so Foden will take his place.

This will sound controversial(perhaps not as much as my belief Sterling could replace Silva one day though lol) but regarding Gundogan, if it came down to having to open a space and move him or Zinchenko on to do so, right now I'd literally have to toss a coin. That's a pretty damning indictment of where Gundo is right now.

I agree mate whenever he plays against the top sides he dissapears cant afford to carry anybody in them games, maybe the injurys have affected him? But i wouldnt be dissapointed if we sold him this summer

Ooh, controversial.

I was initially a fan of Zin and his clear technical capacity playing in an unfamiliar role, but that coin toss would be unfair on Gundo.

He is capable of scoring goals at key moments and has a wonderful 'Scholes-like' capacity to ghost into the penalty area unchallenged.

Zin went backwards as the season dragged out, possibly one of the worst displays I have ever seen in recent years from a City player was his showing at home to Basel, just horrible.

Obviously, if there was another top class midfielder out there for us, then maybe Gundo would want to go back to Germany.

Debatable whether Arsenal away were tough opposition ;-) but that game at Spurs was one of our toughest games of the season and ulitmately one of our most satisfying performances.

It was. Pep though made a decision in the second half at Spurs to reinforce the midfield with an extra man and go three at the back, which proved inspired.

Prior to that, either side of half time, Gundo was being overrun and our manager saw he and Delph were giving the ball away very cheaply.

Tbf I thought Gundogan was excellent in that game and was simply let down by Silva and De Bruyne shirking their defensive responsibilities as the half wore on.

I think it's make or break for him next year. Don't forget he came back from a horror injury last season, and it took him a long time to get up to speed.

With a pre season this year, I'm excited to see what he can bring. I hope he can break off some or his psychological issues in terms of pulling out of tackles. He never did that at Dortmund.

He WAS excellent mate, but it only seems to be in shorter periods?

He was the best player on the pitch during the first half at Burnley but then just faded, badly.

Whether that is down to his stamina or, as I suspect, he just goes missing when the going gets a bit tougher.

I love watching his little moments of skill and defo think this is a big year for him.

Just watched that again to confirm what you said (thanks for nothing by the way :-() and to be fair to him at least he got some form of tackle in. De Bruyne was running around chasing everything and getting nowhere, Sane was standing watching and doing nothing, and Silva was standing watching Sane! Never was 'you win as a team you lose as a team'' more apt than that evening.

I agree, though in that he doesn't inspire confidence in those games when the tackles are flying in.
