We wanted to pay 40m. 50% more of 40m = 40 + 0.5x40 = 40 + 20 = 60m

Cheers mate....didnt realise that figure was based on our original valuation!:) Kovacic is more a "Fred" type midfielder and not a like for like for Jorginho, so it just looks like we just going round in circles with this one...

Genuinely a little embarrassed if that 40 million being our max is true. There's tough negotiating and then there's just being naive. Napoli have no reason to sell, he even said he was happy, he is a key man for them and they're an Italian club (so always ask for top dollar) run by a complete megalomaniac. To think we could get him for a bargain with all the talk of us not buying many players and him being our top target is just silly.

Wouldn't mind us walking away at 60 million, that is too much, but if we genuinely weren't interested in going over 40 then what was the point in the first place?

He is good..One of the best registas in Europe..A more polished version of Gündogan.And that's that.
Mateo Kovacic is better though and more complete than him,only 24 and a 50 M € release clause only.

Well the media might stop the “city can spend what they want”! Bullshit we not been self sufficient for 3 seasons for nothing we have to negotiate fees down not splash the cash to what every club wants for there players.
