Napoli have no reason to sell
Yes they have. Only 2 years left on his contract, and his value will definitely drop under Ancelotti. Just like Busquets or Weigl, Jorginho is a very specific tool that can be used to its max capabilities only by certain coaches like Pep, Sarri, Tuchel, Sampaoli and a few others. ADL knows he has an asset which value will depreciate very soon.

Genuinely a little embarrassed if that 40 million being our max is true. There's tough negotiating and then there's just being naive. Napoli have no reason to sell, he even said he was happy, he is a key man for them and they're an Italian club (so always ask for top dollar) run by a complete megalomaniac. To think we could get him for a bargain with all the talk of us not buying many players and him being our top target is just silly.

Wouldn't mind us walking away at 60 million, that is too much, but if we genuinely weren't interested in going over 40 then what was the point in the first place?
They've every reason to sell, he was a system player for Sarri that Ancelotti won't use and they'll be lucky to get €30m for him next summer after a year of paying him to sit on the bench.

Edit, with a year left on his contract make that €15m.

2 years left, Ancelotti doesn't seem keen on him to stay...only their owner playing hard ball...this is the maximum Napoli would get for him

By briefing the press , city have basically put the ball in Napoli's court

Yes at last City playing hardball, £40m is ample enough for Jorghino, I hope we act the same way with Leicester.

I'm with you mate....why did it take us so long to disagree with Napoli's valuation? It was reported at 55-60mil from the start? Were we hoping for a bargain? We have 2 targets for months (Mahrez and Jorginho)and only know we find out we not willing to meet Napoli's asking? We could have walked away while Fabinho or Fred were still on the market, as Napoli were never going to drop their price by another 50%....When in a million years is a guy like Lemina on the same level as Fred or Fabinho, who we let go to rival teams.....Hopefully this is just the club putting pressure on Napoli but we've seen the club release briefs before so its anyones guess, what is going on....

Seriously have you got the 1st clue as to what is really happening

Is it bad that i would be kind of disappointed if kovacic and lemina weren't actual targets? I really like the idea of kovacic in particular
Kovacic is a very talented player, but he's 8 first and foremost, and we're stacked in that area. Remember that Foden needs playing time to develop properly.

Obligatory flattering YouTube highlight reel for those who don't know what lemina is like.

Taken with a pinch of salt but you can see why we could potentially be interested.

I guess. It depends on where pep is going. Does he want someone like kovacic at 6 to break through midfield with the ball, and break the press that way? I wouldn't mind lemina either, seriously underrated.

Why would anyone be embarrased. Why is it naive For a start we''d have to know what was happening , we don't. We would also need to know what Napoli and Ancelloti are thinking, we don't. We have an experienced successful negotiating team they will know what they can get him for and what they think he's worth we are in a powerful position these days we will have other options.

Genuine question...Isnt Kovacic more of a Fern type?...Pep looking for a Yaya replacement?
Kovacic is sort of a mixture of styles. He covers a lot of ground and is tenacious like dinho, he's good technically like Gundogan but doesn't have the same passin ability as jorginho. His best attribute is his dribbling, onr of the best players I have seen at dribbling through midfield since prime yaya in all honesty.

i am pissed off that we chose to walk away from Fred having said that i have honestly never seen this guy play how good is he ? or can he compared to a player past or present. Many on the forum think its sensible to allow united in on the strength of them paying fortunes to make sure they end up at Trafford and that we are holding the moral doors ajar, However when Fergie was wittering on about " no value in the market" we were overtaking his beloved scum whilst splurging on Aguero Silva Tevez etc Of course we cannot sign everyone.we will lose are fair share but of the very cream players which imho Fred is we cannot afford many more if we want to enjoy the gap that currently exists

Lemina lol

Exactly. This guy was bang average at Juventus. Possibly due to Allegri’s tactics, possibly Lemina needing more game time than he got in Turin.

From what I have seen of him during his time at Southampton, circa 4 matches, he seems to have adapted reasonably well to the PL.

That said, there are definitely better options available for the gap we need to plug in central midfield.
