Jorginho’s agent confirms the Napoli man is still “waiting for news” on Manchester City - “the only certainty is he’ll be wearing blue next season…”

The English champions are keen to sign the Italian international this summer, but so far they’ve refused to meet the Partenopei’s €60m valuation.

“I’m waiting for news from Naples,” Joao Santos confirmed on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“As far as I understand the two parties are negotiating, so we’re waiting for news. The lad is in Fortaleza, on holiday with his family.

“An agreement with City? Yes, it’s there, it’s obvious that there’s been contact and now we’re waiting for things to be resolves in a way which will make everyone happy.

“Playing in the Premier League, for City, for [Pep] Guardiola… these are important motivations, obviously, but it all depends on [President Aurelio] De Laurentiis finding a deal with the English club. The only certainty is he’ll be wearing blue next season!

“Everything is in the hands of De Laurentiis and the City President. Everything could be done in one day, 10… I don’t know.

“I know that City have three names for their midfield and Jorginho is one of them. Guardiola has been following him for a year.”

3 names or 3 players?

This is nailed on. Be patient.

Good to see mattyb dropping by. Glad to have a deeper squad and have added another dimension.
If Mattyb says its on, it’s on 100%.
Now maybe we can all chill out.

NB. Still wish I wasn’t so worried about how his lack of pace will hamper his performance in the premier league next year though.

Ah well, trust in Pep, as they say... (Which I, most certainly, do)

I’m with you on Jorginho. I’m not stressing though and it’s nice to go in with low/moderate expectations on a player for once (for me personally). I’m sure I’ll look back and shake my head at that.

Likely to have more good games than bad under Pep, but a lack of pace in this league catches most out at some point.

I'll be worried if Fernandinho get's injured or banned, I suppose you can say that about most players but there is no player to almost directly fill in for him.

No we haven’t, but then I guess, trying to find someone to compete, in the same position, with a team mate who’s already undoubtedly the best in the world at what he does, isn’t an easy task

Jorginho is a great choice to give rest for Ferna when we are facing the teams that concede all posession to us, and since thats more often than not he’ll play quite a bit I’m guessing.

But that said, when we go up against dangerous teams I’m nervous without Fernandinho out there. In my mind we still don’t have his replacement.

Probably when he is injured we play someone like Danilo?

At the end of it, we ended last season with Ferna, Gündogan and Yaya as our options.

I would feel so much more comfortable with a Yaya- jorginho swap

I think dinho and Jorginho will play in the same team more often than not to be honest. Can see kev moving forward abit and Bernardo moving central. Pep also said that Merlin won’t be a starter as much next season as well. With Jorginho passing and dinho behind we would be solid and even more creative
