To be fair, Lovren and van Dijk actually started to look like a decent partnership, but beneath the level they want to be. As for Lovren, i agree he did look better along side VVD who was an excellent signing. However, he a massive weak link and they don't have much cover for him. It definitely has its place, but the issue gets bigger after we miss out on a main target. They're sticking with Karius? Lovren may be the weak link, but the rest of their back 4 around him are definitely solid, getting better, and might be able to give him more confidence and make his decision making process easier. You said I was ‘egotistical’ for basically saying what you’ve just said!....Liverpool would be my biggest worry seeing as they'll be keeping the front three, strengthen massively in midfield and Van Dijk seems to have worked wonders for the defence. Saying that if they don't get a keeper it doesn't really matter how good the front 10 are but they wouldn't be far off from the City team prior to buying Ederson.
United will obviously improve but as long as Mourinho is there they'll still play cancerous football and have their best players playing diabolically but they seem to grind out results. No way in hell they were the 2nd best team last year.
If Chelsea get any new fresh face over them and hold onto Hazard they should be back to normal. They've a far better XI than United.
