Jorginho

...missing out on CL football.

City want and need hungry players to move on successfully.
It's fine when characters like Sanchez or Jorginho for whatever reason don't want to join City.

Last season we did well without Yaya, Mendy and Gundogan still recovering. In comparison we have upgraded now, and Mahrez on top.

It would be quite ridiculous if City can't attract a classy DM in the near future.
Or maybe even 2, if Gundogan might move to Barca...

You'll have to see my older posts in this thread, they say pretty much the same thing.

I'm in agreement but in his client's eyes, Chelsea must've been the best 'deal'. Otherwise, for footballing reasons, he would've joined us.

More unwarranted sarcasm. I for one disagree with Tolm upon occasion and you are welcome to disagree with him, not that you need my permission. However, I was posting and your comments caught my eye.

The club is doing a great job in many ways, and I generally prefer to focus on the positives, but it isn't perfect and it is not a crime to comment on mistakes that do happen.

I was In a discussion with TH when you intervined on his behalf. I have already apologised for my earlier post to TH and like you said he is quite capable of defending himself without your intervention.

I understand everyone who feels really, really disappointed about this one. It's not a question of being spoilt (we're just recruited a marquee forward, many would say). It just seems that we've been reading for weeks, and even months, that this was nearly over the line. This is a bit hard to take. We know that Pep rated this guy…

Ah, what the fuck!

We need a DM. Twice before we have failed to capitalise on an opportunity to dominate after winning the league, can’t do it again.

Really don’t care if it’s Jorginho or someone else. Whoever Pep thinks.

Have to stop being played by agents and owners though. We keep letting these deals drag on and on. Not sure what the answer is, as it is smart to not pay over the odds, but we’re in the situation now where our manager is so good that other clubs will be interested in our targets just because he is, even if they weren’t before. And clubs will wait and see who else shows up...
We need a worldy as well. Should be interesting.

If a position is important enough for us to pursue Jorginho for £50m, then it's too important to give to a 17 year old with absolutely zero professional experience.
No natter how good this kid supposidly is?
Well I'd normally agree with you, but hey, we're picking bad uns at the moment.

Lucas Tousart though. Or am I the Only one who rates him? Pep's choice in the end, personally I believe he'll be a beast of a CDM in the future!

Hope we don't start leaking excuses. Move on and get another DM. If there are any good in the market?

I'd be disappointed if we went into the season with a 33-year old Fern, and Gundogan as our only DM options.

Real Madrid want the cash to bag Neynar.
So how about Toni Kroos? The only German who came away from the world cup with any credit.

For what it's worth I've just listened to the 93:20 podcast and, as another poster mentioned, Sam Lee was on.

He said that some pretty good sources told him that Jorginho was the only player they really wanted and that so much research went into getting him that 4 weeks is too late to start the whole process again. City are more concerned with not making an expensive mistake. The feeling is Gundog can play as a deep lying playmaker. He also said the whole process of getting Jorginho had been a monumental fuck up. City not interested in Kovacic.

As things stand they will only make another signing if we can get Hazard or Mpbape both of which are unlikely.

He also said Foden will feature a lot more next season.

Lastly the thing about the player wanting City above anything else appears to be true and comes from the boardroom. Sam thought this was a nice idea in theory but a little naive in practice.

Interesting stuff. I hope he is wrong or the last 4 weeks will just be 3 or 4 departures..... Mangala Hart Denayer type.

We may need some rumours and BM does that quite well.

Don't shoot the messenger!

If Jorginho was the player they really wanted then why not stump up the cash early and close the deal? Have executives gotten cocky due to the success and football played?

I know he’s young but this new kid from psg could be our answer after all.. you guys gotta remember sane was only 19 when he broke into the side and with foden likely to feature more I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of having that new kid as a back up..

Is everything like this? I would feel they smelled something fishy or else they would have

PSG were genuinely considering using him so its not beyond the realms of possibility, especially if we were planning on keeping him in and around the first team till Jan as has been reported. Even more so if as Sam Lee has suggested we won't move for another DM now.

Hard to disagree with any of that really. I imagine Pep is extremely annoyed right now.
