I'm hoping if we don't sign a DM we'll see Aleix Garcia or Luiz promoted. Was really impressed with Garcia, especially against the rags in the League Cup!

Here's the truth nobody here is saying- we basically do not need that type of player until Jan.

Let's face it, it was only when the games were coming thick and fast and the champs league saw a higher level of talent play us that we realised we were lacking(and even at that I still say benching Gundogan would have helped, he was utter gash).

If we can get a player in Jan that can slot right in, we'll be fine until then.

No panic lads. We lost Alves and got Danilo in asap last year. Trust our boys to have a plan and be prepared to wait for the opportunity to arise to get the player we want.

Thing is Fernandinho is 33 years old. There are no guarentee he’ll maintain his high level to christmas. Especially not after a disappointing WC campaign.

Totally agree. We walked the league but it would be the definition of complacency to sit on our laurels. Look at how Arsenal & Liverpool have strengthened. We should put our foot on their throat while we can, in my opinion.

Mahrez, I think, will prove to be a fantastic signing, but we need a DM.

Gundo is good, but he's not a defensive mid & Ferna's not getting any younger!

Most quality players are even more unobtainable in January and many are cup tied as well.

That's where I'm heading now. The last few days been thinking kovacic. Now I'm thinking no. Rotate and recruit from within. Don't get me wrong if it was up to me I'd be slapping 50 mill down to get someone in. But realistically my view is turning towards fuck it. Use what we've got. I love kompany but I think if rather spend money in CD, just in case he goes again rather than DM on reflection.

It also took him half a season to get up to speed in the 14/15 season after poor WC as well in 2014 and he was 29 years old then..
 
Are we sure of the type of player we want as far as alternatives go? From Savic to Fred(when we were in for him) to Weigl, I've even seen some suggestions of Lemina(Southampton) and Loftus-Cheek(strangest one but he is a unit and good on the ball I guess) those players are all very different and I keep hearing this "resistance to a press" in which case I don't see any of those being better than Dinho in that regard.

Kovacic I've not seen enough of to draw any conclusions but he seems to be the most popular choice as the alternative so I'm guessing he must be the best choice, £44m release clause but interest from Tottenham, Man Utd and Inter so who knows what the price will be. Just hope we are sure he's the right player for us before buying because as disappointing as it will be if we end up missing out on Jorginho, it would be worse buying a stop gap player we can't get off the books when we do identify the right target.

As others have said bringing Aleix Garcia back into the fold and seeing how far he's progressed might not be a bad option.

Need a holding midfielder more than anything this year. Dino has been class but needs to 're charge more than anyone.

Going to be intresting what City do now this has gone tits up.

Transform John Stones into a DM job done.

It was still a disappointing campaign that will test his mental strength. Them going out already in the quarterfinals and him having an awful game as well as scoring an own goal. He’ll also be mentally tired after such a long season.
