Jose Mourinho On City and More

i guess some managers would prefer to choose to manage leeds united or nottingham forest or, or eitrach frankfurt or sverzna sverzda (i mean red star beograd lol)

Q Why did you turn down the City job?

JM Right now, at this stage of my career, I’m trying to win the Grand Slam [of league titles in England, Italy and Spain]. I want to be back to England one day, no doubt, but no player or coach has ever pulled off this feat. I have to try.

That'd be because no manager has managed teams with such huge means to win in those three leagues. Done a great job everywhere he's been, no doubt, but he's hardly managed Stoke, Cagliari and Osasuna has he.

Why all this shit about History, surely that is what it is...History, what about THE FUTURE, which I'm sure is definitely blue.

You can keep your history, it is the future I'm concentrating on. I was 3 when we last won a trophy and obviously remember nothing about it.
Finally I have a chance of seeing something special and keep saying to my 10yr old, how wonderful it is going to be and how long our suffering fans have been waiting for the day it all changes.

Read the full sentence and try again...

Oh the "ironing" again !!
lol

Erm, when did we offer him the job for him to turn down?
Back end of November/start of December last year.

Went back on his word too. Not a man of his word is Jose and i very much doubt our owners will offer him it again.

still he won two european trophies with porto.... hats off! the man, although a media whore "is a great manager!!!!"

History is written by the winners. A few seasons of winning and City will have 'history'. Chelsea is up there with the biggest clubs of world football and they won their first title in 2004, backed by oil money. Nobody will remember how they got there, but that they got there.

Shame on jose... :(

Hate all this City have no history bollox myself, but he says no history, winning tradition.
This is correct when put like that.
Does not mean we have never had a winning tradition , just that it died some years ago.

Hopefully to rear it's ugly head from this season onwards.

in this context it's a valid point - we don't have the recent history of winning and that puts more pressure on the players, affects the mentality of everyone at the club from the bottom up in certain ways that hold us back, etc etc.
