He's a great RB, there's no doubt, but he's arguably better at DM and stronger than Bayern's options there also. In fact, he said in an interview with FFT earlier in the year he see's himself as a DM long term, not a fullback, as it's his strongest and ultimately preferred position.
Have to wonder if he really is as comfortable playing anywhere or if he didn't just change his tune because Carlo took the hump and benched him. Didn't help he spent much of the interview praising Pep either.
It certainly seems like Ancelotti favours Rafinha, on the other hand, so maybe he really doesn't fully buy this "Lahm's full time successor" thing.
