Joshua Wilson-Esbrand

Definitely an option for cup games and bottom half PL teams. Hope he’s given a run this year looks a good prospect. Suddenly, if we get Cucurella, our full back options don’t look as short.

Under Pep the left back just needs to be comfortable in possession. JWE had that in abundance, if he can improve some defensive aspects of the game then we have a £30m+ signing on our hands.

I thought his decision making with some of his passing wasn’t great. Also dawdling in possession a couple of times.
He was full of energy though and eager to help going forward.
I’m not as sold as everyone else so I’ll sit on the fence for now.
He was a 6/10 for me V Bayern.
Could have been a lot worse though and there’s no doubt he’ll have a decent career in the game, if that’s with us or not who knows.
I wish the lad all the luck in the world.
Gaining good experience

Didn't realise there was two threads.

No reason why he can't get minutes this season especially with 5 subs being introduced.

Would him starting against someone like a Bournemouth at home really be a risk?

0 risk. Bournemouth wont get a sniff

The lad looked good but so have quite a few in previous pre-seasons. He does look very comfortable on the ball though so hopefully may get some chances this season. Has the obvious advantage that we are short of specialist left backs but I can see Pep playing Ake or Laporte at left back in front of him regardless of the opposition.

A bit rough round the edges, but looks a great prospect. Good to see the academy starting to bear some fruits.
