Only know his name from the Brass Eye 'Drugs' episode, one of the street names of the drug "Cake" was Joss Acklands Spunky Backpack.

I'll always remember his unique voice.

Great character actor.
Got to a great age.
He played a Russian General on so many occasions I think his performances came to define the role. These days people even mimic him playing the role.
My favourite character of his - I think it has to be Jack Westerby in Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy on BBC2 in the late 70s opposite Alex Guiness.

He played Jerry Westerby who’s character was pivotal in the second Karla book but it was a great cameo in TTSS
