Very interesting Q & A with Hooky.

He really is a horrid cvnt. New Order are my fave ever band and I acknowledge the efforts he put in. BUT I reckon New order will be better without him.
Roll on the new album and tour :-)

New Order had the more commercial success but Joy Division had much more soul. Ian Curtis always sung at full tilt and you could hear his emotion in the songs (especially live), therefore Joy Division > New Order.
Sorry to anyone under 45.

I have both of Joy Division’s albums but I seem to prefer more tracks of theirs that weren’t on either album:
Digital
Transmission
Atmosphere
Love Will Tear Us Apart
etc.

What’s the deal with those tracks, were they just singles and B-sides? Or is there another album I just don’t know about with them on?

Singles that are on the album "substance".

Are there more great New Order songs or more great Joy Division songs? I'd say the former for the most basic of reasons -- they've been around longer to produce them. JD were more "influential", more "groundbreaking", "darker" and "more original" , but the amount of quality music NO has produced over so long makes me pick them. Prolific matters. And I love them both.

Joy Division!

New Order for me. My fave ever band alongside Depeche Mode. The pair of them have shaped my life like nothing else.

Would Joy Division have gone the same way as New Order did, with the full integration of electronics, if Ian Curtis had not died
