Both overrated.
Singles that are on the album "substance".
Understandable, however when Joy Division became New Order they were still playing post punk music. Mostly enjoyable, better quality of musicianship but without the dynamic vocals of Curtis. So I can cop to She's Lost Control and LWTUA and Transmission as better than anything NO ever did. But on balance there are more songs by NO I love because they put forth an immense number of really great tunes, and Ian Curtis is dead and therefore has no say in the matter.
NO is my favo(u)rite band of all time ever. If I had to do without one of them, how am I going to do without my favo(u)rite band? I'm not.
??? none of the above singles are on the album Substance...…………….not on my copy anyway
What songs are on your copy?
We talking Substance 1987 New Order here right ?
No mate.

I have both of Joy Division’s albums but I seem to prefer more tracks of theirs that weren’t on either album:
Digital
Transmission
Atmosphere
Love Will Tear Us Apart
etc.
What’s the deal with those tracks, were they just singles and B-sides? Or is there another album I just don’t know about with them on?

Seeing him next Saturday 26th in BostonJust got back from watching Peter Hook and the Light in Liverpool (even worse at the Shankly hotel!)
Brilliant gig. Hour and ten mins of Joy Division followed by around 50 mins of New Order.
£23. Bargain!
Bit of a mix mate really,12 " tracks as well, although there are a couple that were Joy Division written, but none of the above you mention are on New Order Substance album, when New Order started to go a bit more disco / synth way.
Power Corruption & Lies was more a Joy Division type of music album by New Order though, contrasting styles between the 2,but none of the above are on that album neither !
God Knows mate.
Yes i saw him in Tampa. We were talking about Joy Divisionmate. They both put out an album called Substance. I saw Peter Hook last year doing both albums. It was great. : )

Brilliant!New Order for me.
I find JD a bit depressing - I like my music to be uplifting.
He is doing Technique and RepublicLast nights set list should give you a good idea of what he is going to play. I think last night was their warm up. It was a great gig
