Watched the documentary last night, what was the big fuss about them?

Iain Curtis couldn't sing for shit and danced worse than Bez.

What is the appeal? Genuinely want to know what it is.
 
Curtis, Stephen Morris and Rob Gretton were all huge blues btw

Obviously Hook and Barnie were rags

In answer to your question Scotty..Joy Division were one of the most seminal bands of a generation and if you don't get it you never will

Nothing Joy Division related but I had to click the thread after seeing your username for the first time in ages. That fucking sandbag after the FA Cup a few years ago, hahah.

Yep a good 20 year's before my time, I only like their most popular song. Found it sad how none of them stepped in to help Curtis.

Think they all have regrets about not helping Ian or taking things seriously and expressed them, but they were young lads, not really able to process the incident at the time or deal with it. Seemed Bernie was the most able and tried a bit but wasnt able to help in anyway.

Joy Division were a seminal band, that inspired so many others, they launched Factory Records into a proper label, enabling the others that came after them but losing Curtis like they did prevented them really gaining commercial success that New Order did, but it also preserved their image and prolonged the myth as it were as they never went shit, like most bands do in the end for differing reasons.
