overhyped LOL
He definitely is overhyped. He’s decent enough, will end up being a very good player, but he’s not special and nowhere near as good as people are making out.

Cole Palmer has looked very good in a few CL games so far and if he was playing in Germany he’d look fantastic. No bugger is talking about how good he’s going to be though outside Savage and Lescott last night and the City fanbase in general.

You could liken his goal last night to Cole Palmer vs Brugge last season. Nice goal from a talented youngster.

Bellingham may well become one of the best midfielders in the world, but if you put him in our midfield, whoever he was paired with would make him look pretty ordinary.

The CBS feed I watched said, “There are some people who think Palmer is a better player than Foden and from tonight’s cameo, during which he has run the game since coming on, he might be.” And that was before he had a few cracks on goal!

He’s a natural Mahrez replacement to me.

As for Bellingham, it’s always the same story….high price quoted, deal made at lower price, unless it’s a buyout clause being executed.

I think we haven’t heard the name of the KDB replacement yet, but Bellingham would sure be a nice Gundo replacement…and Gundo might be a nice part ex.

I feel like Walker is about to have a very rapid decline, so we need a full back and one or two midfielders. If the plan is for Foden to play deeper then buy one midfielder (Bellingham) and sign a high quality winger.

Agree that he is overhyped. He generally doesn't run games or control them in a way you'd expect for someone who is hyped like he is. The reaction to his England performances which were largely invisible against Italy and then the same in the first half against Germany show just how big the hype is. He was involved in Shaw's goal and then won the penalty by overstretching for a ball he failed to control. But that's just what the English media are like.

For 19 though he's an impressive talent. Give him 4 years and he could very well be running games. He's got the ability and talent to already influence games at the top level and under Pep you'd expect him to add that element of control which is required to be a midfielder. Foden has kicked on a lot in the past three years. Outside of Gavi and Pedri, there aren't many young talents like him performing consistently well for such a young age. Palmer is older than Bellingham to put his performances into context.

He may not be as good as his hype, but I’d still rather he signed for us and not the two redshirted scum or the dirty chav bastards.

He may be overhyped but he is possibly the biggest talent of his age group around so why not sign him up? For those not in favour, is it better to sign a lesser talent who is not hyped up?

Palmer as good as Bellingham… First it was Kvaratskelia and now Bellingham.. amazing takes.

That’s the gamble for the club. Buy him now for much more than he’s potentially worth, or spend a third/half on a mid 20s midfielder with far more experience, but maybe a lower ceiling.

The problem with a lot of English young players is they reach their peak very young and never improve and often go backwards.

Sadly a lot of our players have a lazy attitude and start to believe their own hype.

Bellingham is a mix of both id say hes a special player but also a little over hyped. I watch Dortmund frequently and alot of other Bundesliga teams when I can so i dont just watch the the big games such as Dortmund vs bayern or the Derby Dortmund vs Schalke. Bellingham is very very good in the big games he shows up he drags that Dortmund midfield time and time again. with it being the Bundesliga or Champions league.

But in the Smaller games against the bottom half of the table or teams fighting relegation etc, He does go missing / is very quiet in those games. its like he cant be bothered he still shows fight etc but hes not as good in these games. he loses the edge that he normally shows in the big games. Against Bayen even though they lost last season honestly he was one of the best on the pitch controlled the midfield well. but then dropped off a cliff the following weekend when Dortmund played a relegation candidate.

Thats one thing that seriously needs to change in his game. hes been playing as a 8 this season and doing very well hes started doing the same runs that Gundogan does for us. I'm guessing if Gundogan was to leave Pep would slot him into that Gundogan role. he can play as a 6 and a 8. so he has utility

Pretty standard fare for this place. Everyone else's players are overrated and all of ours are criminally underrated. Other than our genuinely world class players, who are all overrated and past their best for about two or three weeks a season.

Then we sign those other players and those same people tend to change their tune within a few months.

Rinse and repeat.
