Looks good. Carlos looks good as well
You can see why Sevilla had a stingy defense last season, both seem to complement each other very well filling in when one is in trouble. Wish our CBs had such a good partnership. I would say Carlos is more of the visual no nonsense defender, whilst Koundé just defends without the fuss & gets things done quietly.
My assessment tonight of Koundé is he is a very good, young defender who is energetic & has good eye for positioning but didn’t really see any leadership qualities you may associate with Koulibaly. So as many on here have mentioned if we do sign him don’t expect him to have the same immediate imposing impact as Van Dijk as he’s still young & will need to work on those intangibles.
There’s no concern with his aerial duals & he won mostly everything in the air & has an impressive leap.
He did get outfoxed by Lewandowski for Bayern’s equaliser, but it was a great veteran move where most defenders would have struggled much like Koulibaly did against Messi earlier on in the year.
Maybe a slight concern is he does like to jump in & try to win the ball first similar to Otamendi’s tendencies, but thankfully doesn’t go to ground as often.
Overall, the Sevilla fan who gave us a fan’s view of him was spot on based on tonight’s performance.
Would be very happy if City did sign him, as whilst he may not yet possess the leadership qualities of a Koulibaly or Van Dijk, he most definitely would improve our current defense & our overall defending.
