Jules Koundé

Literally just wrote on another thread how good he was. Granted it was one game and I have seen fuck all of Sevilla but wasn't imoressed by Carlos and was impressed by this lad.

I don't think Koulibaly has looked very good in Napoli's recent games either though. There seems to be a real lack of quality centre backs out there. And can't think of many sides with two top class centre backs these days.

He was the standout against Roma, too. Looks a much, much bigger talent but he's still young so could go either way.

Can you put this in the players who might improve us thread? We are not linked

If, & I do mean 'if' Garcia is supposed to be the kind of player Pep dreams of creating, to run things in our defence, then 'if' they are watching Carlos, they should have been noticing this lad & going 'woah, hang on a minute!'.

He actually did the stuff Garcia has been completely bullshitted to be doing. The 'positoning, reading the game, awareness' etc, which Garcia has shown only in people's minds, he actually did, in spades. On the ball, he played like a midfielder, he seemed quick, good in the air & very very good 1v1.

Perhaps it is just a fluke & he's normally shite, but on these showings, he is the exact player Pep is 'supposed' to want.

Perhaps in reality, Pep doesn't want that, though.

28.7mill Euro release, just watching Wolves Sevilla game for Carlos and this guy is better

His clause is at 90M. Sevilla pursued him for more than a year before signing him last summer. Bordeaux also get a 20% sell on fee which means Monchi will not be offering any discounts on a player that has caught the attention of both RM & Barca

1.84m according to Transfermrkt which is the same as Koulibaily

He definitely isn't that tall. Diego Carlos is the same height as Koulibaily and towers over him in this photo.

Height isn't the be all end all, but it really wouldn't be ideal to have three CB's under 6ft foot with him, Ake and Fernandinho (or Garcia, in the unlikely event he stays).

We do really need to inject some height into our back line and signing Kounde would not offer that, which is likely why we won't be looking at him and rather a different kind of profile.
