Amazing how this transfer, for many, seems to be the difference between optimism and pessimism heading into the new season. If the hype is warranted then I’m excited to see him play, but I also think Laporte and Ake as a partnership will be 10 time’s better than what we had to endure for most of last season!
Personally this transfer makes a lot more sense than chasing a 29 year old and paying top money in a pretty stagnant market.
You’re quite correct also, with Kounde, there will not be an obligation that he has to play every week with Ake and Laporte being available.
It is the nature of new signings, you rarely kmow there failings, where as the failings of Ota we all know far too well. That in itself breeds optimism, even if it could be misguided.
Offers real athleticism that we seem to lack in our team. Very good leaper with good recovery speed and his defensive awareness is continuously improving. He's still very young but has all the abilities to be a wonder. I hope this transfer does go through.
