Julian Alvarez to leave Atletico?

Doesn't deserve a thread of it's own IMHO.
Didn't understand it in May - he's not coming back here and he ain't our player.
Should have been in the General Transfer forum - where it would rightly have died a death

Can't argue that, but my point was he was a very useful player and had a knack for goals. Still does, as he did quite well with Atletico last season. But to your point, $80 mil was a great price to get for him. Could've used some of those goals last season though.

Why does the PL only count for his goal stat?

He scored 36 goals in 103 appearances and that is appearances not minutes, he will have had a lot of sub appearances.

Anyway, he scored 17 and 19 in his two seasons and by most people's metric a 20 goal season is a good one, so this is hardly making him a poor goalscorer.

This is just standard Madrid press freakout after 1 game, hes not leaving before the WC next year, all Argentines are trying to get to good spots and clubs to be at the top and performances the next summer. As Garnacho has found out..
 
Atletico feels like so much they should try something else than the same Simeone style once more. he did incredible things with them, the title, some cup wins, CL finals, but then spent shit load in last 3-4 years and it just doesnt click anymore.

even for Simeone a new club could bring new ideas, new impulse, can see him in Serie A but also in PL.
