Weird wording on this rumour that stayed Lyon considered bobb, khusanov, mcatee and Echeverri before settling on Bah, suggests that they picked him ahead of those which seems highly doubtful. I suspect he was probably who we had in mind to send there all along. Good level for him to progress.
My reading is that they preferred the listed players, but the club rejected the advances.

To me it sounds more like they presented a list of likely suspects they thought we'd loan, and would have taken all of them if possible. Not that I think Bobb or Khusanov were ever an option, possibly not Echeverri either. McAtee only has 12 months left at this moment so a loan with an obligation to buy would be the best they could hope for.

I wonder if the performance of Reis has led the club to the Bah loan.
I don't think Pep will feed all the new ones all in at once, so he will rely of his seasoned partnerships at centre back for another season.
I think Reis was really good for his age in the last game and see him as a future Stones and I would love to see Bah in the Premier league but despite his appearance he too his very young. I don't think any of John Nathan or Manu are going this season. Thats just me, of course.
I think we will see those two next season if they progress.

Bah played well against OL in Lens’ victory there, and reading the Lyon forum, I sense they would prefer a commanding defender to an attacking option. They have quite a few coming through their own academy, and the club’s predicament means they will be hothoused.

think he was always getting loaned tbh, very raw,
He is, but highly effective at what he does it seems.
I did read something that said that he was told he would be in our squad next season.
There is so much misinformation about though that it's easy to get caught up in what you would like to happen!

good size and positional awareness but dont think he has the technical or passing game to be here yet.

him being in the squad wishful thinking, personally didnt think he would be here next year regardless of how many are sold.

Eye to the future? Stones is out the door next summer at the latest. We bought three ‘raw’ players in January, and if Bah goes to OL, he could well be the one that develops fastest, simply by dint of the fact that he’ll likely get more minutes under his belt and be playing consistently. All going well, he should be an option next summer.

would help. Khus/Bah to step up and in for Stones/Akanji etc. have to see how it goes, looks ok so far.

Loan just makes more sense given how much CBs we have and you can't blood in a bunch of young CBs, only 1 or 2 at a time.

They’re all raw, however, and arriving at one time as a consequence of our poor succession planning. They’re inevitably going to make mistakes, and in such circumstances Guardiola would instinctively look to protect them by going to the old guard, but I’m afraid that won’t be an option. If they’re staying this coming season, they need to be played.

think Bah is step behind the other two on a technical level.

Khus/Reis will stay and be in the rotation imo. (Stones will go, Akanji will be RB/RCB) Bah will be loaned again, gut feeling he was complete punt on the potential for the fee, more a CFG signing than the others

RB - Nunes/Akanji
RCB - Dias/Khus/Reis
LCB - Josko/Ake/Reis
LB - AitNouri/OReilly

Im expecting. one of the two at RB to go if one comes in. (swap Khus and Akanji if we go with the 3 atb and LB upfront)

I think they’re much of a muchness myself. Reis looks more the footballer but lacks pace, Khusanov has speed and aggression but lacks ability on the ball, and Bah has height and physical aggression but lacks composure on the ball. If we could have a composite of all three, we’d be fine.

The permutations are fine and should cope domestically, but any European team worth its salt would exploit our Achilles’ in that defence.

yeah, gonna be interesting to see how and where they solidifiy what we have here, think the RW/RCB/RB combination is gonna be key. No real problem with Marmoush/Reijnders/Ait Nouri on the other side (expected starters)

Think we’re going to have to make do and mend. Getting players out will prove harder than some suspect, and we probably have enough players to integrate this season already without adding more, much as I think we’re two short.

the only top class centre halve that is going to be available is Gvardiol
Dias is a slight step below but still very good.

Reis is a project - looks ok - nothing more.
khusonov looks good - could be excellent but long way to go
Akanji - decent but not top class and injuries starting to play a part

Stones and Ake are not reliable and cannot be counted on

Our fullback options are limited...

Alt-Nouri obviously first choice....but that is is...no right back at all (nunes and Rico are not good enough by a long stretch) and we have no real cover at left back besides Nico OReilly. - who is ok against lower level teams but will get found out against better teams.

We need at least 2 fullbacks more....possibly 3
We need a centre half

Can only however see us getting one of those 4 needed ( a right back)
