Why are people saying we don't need midfielders? This is't a long term thing and the fact that we need cover in defence and Kompany may have to play there quite a bit would be as good an explanation as any.

wasn't it said when Mancini took over that his prefered set up is 4-3-1-2, with 3 tackling midfielders and 2 big men up front? he used this to great effect at Inter with Zanetti,Viera and Cambiasso as his 3 midfield destroyers breaking up attacks and supporting the atack.
