Just Checked league table.

No, there is no shame in 2nd, it's impossible to win the league every year. But it's the manner in which we're finishing 2nd that has people pissed off. The complete lack of desire from players in a must-win game, the predictable tactics that teams wised up to half way through last season and since which has seen us drop many more points on the road with no useful Plan B. And the overall inferior performances for much of this season.

Our repeated European failure also can't be ignored. We should have at least gotten ourselves Europa League football out of that group. People turn their nose up at the Europa League (despite a great opportunity to build your coefficient so you can get easier Champions League groups in future) but I bet many wouldn't mind a Europa League run right now and a possible trip to Amsterdam.

It shouldn't be made into a "I'm a bigger Blue than you contest" just because people are downbeat about this season. It hasn't been an enjoyable season really except for a few games like Arsenal away. I'm a match-goer and this season is largely a blur of mediocrity and grinding out results compared to last season. The football really hasn't been very entertaining with a few exceptions. (inb4 York/relegation/etc.)

If we finish second, will it really be THAT much of a disaster?........I don't think so.......

Disappointing yes.

Finishing second is not a bad thing, it happens to the best, just ask Barca after last season.

It's the manner of our displays that are worrying me, we seem to be going backwards as a squad and not learning from our mistakes?

We are second in supposedly the hardest league in the world.
Ok we have hit a bad patch at the wrong time when we need to kick on.
Yes it was one of the worst displays I have seen in the past three years but we are second still and also still in the FA cup.
We are still not in anyway the finished article and we all know that we didn't get the players the manager wanted last pre-season.
We need to get behind the team like the 3200 yesterday did and finish the season on a high. Give Mancini the players he wants pre-season and re build for a better push next season.
We have been unlucky with injuries this season and not got the best out of the players still here.
Yesterday was just one of those games that happens every so often where players make silly mistakes and unfortunately we have a key player away on family duties.
I for one still believe in City due to I am CTID.

Me too - CTID. This is the attitude we want. Supporting our team in this way does not mean we do not recognise that there have been mistakes this season but aiming for second place and the FA cup is another step on the road to consistent success in one form or other.
The criticism on Bluemoon from some fans is unwarranted - we are still only 3 years into the project.
The fans on Saturday were a credit to the club and the fan base. I find those that didn't go and who choose to express their 'support' on here in such a negative way soooo depressing.

Even though we didn't get players in. It's still the same team minus nige who won the league. Yet their performances have been 75% below last season. That tells me it's something more sinister

Well, did the rags think there was something sinister in their camp last year when they won zilch. NO, they realised it's because the powers that be did not spend on a big name and they put it right this year. Our powers that be let Mancini down in the summer - he has the same first team squad some of whom had had injuries and personal issues (Kun) to contend with - or just injuries (Kompany, Nastasic, Micah, Clichy, ) etc. He was only allowed to buy some back up players. We did not push on and capitalise winning the league.

This was not Mancini's fault but we are still second and can still have a good season if the fans don't get on the backs of the players during the games. Away fans don't seem to do so but I know that around me, as soon as a player puts a foot wrong the slagging starts.

We cannot change the circumstances now but we can give the team confidence by sticking together and giving all our support.

Lets leave the vitriol until the close season

CTID. Can't fret overmuch over 2nd or even 3rd. I honestly never thought I'd live to see City even play in the UCL back when Filth/Chavski/Arse/Red Dippers were monopolising those spots every year.

This club (AND Bob) is capable of putting together a cracking stretch of play. If they close out with one then I'll be alright going into the summer. Get Bale away from the Spuds or make another major acquisition that can open up some things up front and you go into next fall with every expectation of reclaiming those gold badges.

A drop to 4th or out of the UCL? No, that's not acceptable for this wage bill and then I'd be certainly upset. I just don't see those things happening, though. As bad as we have looked at times, Chavski and Le Arse have appeared much worse at various points this year.

True we are 2nd and 10 years ago that would have been a dream but times (and investment) change.

Our league position belies the poor football that we have played over the past 3 months or so.

We are out of the title race with 12 games to go, can't understand why people are happy with that position. Our squad and fans deserve better

Well we haven't got a chance in hell of sneaking into the CL Pot 1 now have we. Therefore can't see us progressing in the CL next season either (if we're in it) as they'll stuff us with one of the hardest groups again.

One downside to Mancini, I don't think he has the CL know-how yet, it's a totally different breed of tournament. Our playing style isn't up to scratch either, watch any other good CL side and you'll watch them bomb forward on the break, instead our players are strolling out our box letting the other team get behind the ball.

On a final note: having a full stadium for CL Home games would help the atmosphere (and hopefully players morale) a lot more. Don't understand why these games have had so many empty seats. First time we've seen us play competitively against teams of this calibre for a long long time and people are content to watch on TV (presumably the explanation).

For me I would load the midfield like we used to do with Yaya pushed forward that frees up Silva as well.
Unfortunately we don't have the grafters that we need in midfield. No one is a tackler like Nige, Garcia came with a bit of an animal tag but not seen that.
Yes same squad, just like Utd except they bought a proven goal scorer that has dragged them through games. Southampton battered them at home but there players didn't make the same mistakes ours did. Utd haven't played this super football that we played in parts last year. We have to realise that teams come to park the bus and hit us on the break and that why we have draw too many games this season because we bomb forward and invite that now.
We have lost the same amount of games as Utd it's those draw that have killed us.
The one big question is why are the players not shooting from outside the box this season. If you watch last seasons games we shot and follow up for the scraps. Score more.

As suggested just checked the league table and we are 2nd and adrift by 12 points in february.
With the squad we have and the investment placed in the club we should be far better than this.
Not played well all season and my worry is that we are now looking over our shoulder at the chasing pack. Remember if we finish outside the Champs league places our finances and therefore our potential spending / player attraction will be greatly affected.
The chelsea game is massive.
