Just Good Friends TV Series

Nope, hated it. Room 101 stuff along with Duty Free, Sorry, Watching, Home to Roost.

Dear John was where it was at.
Have to disagree on Sorry, I thought it was great, Timothy's mother is one of the most hideous characters in TV history and brilliantly played. TBH I always thought Watching was OK too

Used to love Just Good Friends, back in the day and as has been said, Jan Francis was fit!!

Dear John - love that too.

Sitcoms from that era - does anyone remember Ever Decreasing Circles??

One of my favourite stcoms and I still call certain people "Howard and Hilda" !!
Everyone has had a 'Paul' in their lives at sometime or another.

I wasn’t a fan of sitcoms that solely centred around a will-they won’t-they relationship like Just Good Friends. I think too that this one was one of the first to start the crossover from a simple TV show to being included as articles in news programmes and media. I found it all a bit too saccharine and essentially just the boring bits of a soap opera. Watching and Butterflies were better because they had more interesting lead characters and supporting casts.

I loved Butterflies. Probably would have liked Watching but its in the same bracket as Bread.. Full of scousers, I cant stand that whole celebration of... I am gong off on one.

Yeah there is that. It’s not a classic by any means but I am of a similar age to the actors so it probably resonated with me, plus it got a good Sunday night spot on ITV if I remember correctly. Used to be my favourite telly night on ITV.

Two great lines in Just Good Friends I remember to this day. One was when he tells Penny he'd had acupuncture and she asks "Did you feel a prick?" and he replies "Well I felt a bit stupid".

The other was when he met Penny's mum again and she asks him what he's doing these days, to which he replies"Oh I'm an accountant". She looks at him approvingly and asks "Chartered or Certified?" and he replies "Turf actually".
